A bad run of injuries to the Blues ruck division may have led to Chris Bryan making his AFL debut last season, but he's determined to show that his 11-game run was no flash in the pan.

The 197-centimetre ruckman burst onto the scene with a 20-possession, 17-hitout performance against the Swans in round 11 in the absence of Barnaby French and Fabian Deluca, but found himself being outbodied by more experienced opponents as the season wore on.

He is out of contract at the end of the year.

I was just making a lame joke because the well researched article mentioned Bryan having to ruck with injuries to Barnaby and Fabian (meant to be Adrian Deluca).
Here is something on Fabian

Would swap Adrian for him in a heartbeat.
I know, very poor from the reporter. Thought I'd take the liberty of taking it literally, as I too like the look of young Fabian as a ruck prospect!

For the love of god can we swap Adrian for Fabian.

Please make it so. :thumbsu:
We did have the chance to draft Fabian at last years draft Mojo. I'm pretty happy with our ruckman atm, with French, McLaren, Bryan and DeLuca. We also have Batson on our Rookie List, so our ruck depth is ok.

Very true we could have taken him. But took Hartlett at 25 instead to boost the key position stocks and went for Bryan with a later pick.

Port took Fabian with pick 35. He was very skinny but has put on a lot of weight. Unlike Adrian who still looks to skinny to me.

I would swap them given the chance. Fabian has just turned 19 and has it all in front of him. Deluca is much older and does not look like a natural ruckman and is basically a giant forward piocket who drops to many marks to be dangerous enough to warrant many senior games unless he improves.

You forgot Aisake the 1 genuine hope we have on our list to make it as a tall athletic huge leaping first ruck in a few years. If he continues his development physically to bulk up and his ability to understand the game and what he is doing. Like I keep saying I see Bryan, McLaren and Deluca as pinch hitters/backups to keep us competitve while we wait for Batson or Aisake to develop.
If those 2 rookies do not then we will need to target one of those rucks from SA coming out of contract in Meesen, Fabian Deluca or Maric. If that does not work then go for Leunberger or Renouf in the draft.

Bellchambers from Tasmania is another one. Also Ben McEnvoy from Murray Bushrangers (coached by Peter Dean this year) is a player just under 200cms who has a great engine and is a very good athlete. AIS kid eligible in the next draft.

The depth has improved no question, but the backups still have a lot of work to do in order to be considered as the natural replacement from French.

With DeLuca signing a new two year deal last year, this season becomes extremely improtant for both Bryan and Batson...........otherwise it could be curtains for one or both.

Well summed up Mojo. I did forget about Aisake, but he really is a development player at the moment. Will be very interesting to see how he is placed at the end of the year.

Bryan could be a handy player this year with the new "quick kickout rule", and i don't mean doing the kicking out. If he could some how be isolated on our defensive 50 - 60 metre line with a decent pass carry the ball even 10 metres and then woof it forward it would certainly turn defense into attack in real hurry if it comes off.
A friend of mine who has played a little bit of senior footy down forward at Frankston was telling me a story recently about how a Chris Bryan pass dislocated one of his fingers when he marked it so his kicks certainly have a bit of pepper on them.
