He 'struggled' against Geelong? Well no point reading the rest of the article then. But considering I did what else do we have, '5 of 12 kicks were effective'; that's great (or not.. depending on if you consider Toovey as the benchmark for DE) but I don't recall any of those resulting in direct turnovers, just stoppages, so it's not the end of the world. Furthermore he got quite a few possessions in congestion, whether or not they were contested I'm not sure, but it meant his kicks were rushed, which is hardly something commonplace for a 'sweeper'.

As for the journalist in question: 'Aish and Treloar' doing the heavy lifting in the midfield? What kind of bullshit is this? I hope all of you guys who are saying 'I agree with him' actually read the article and agree with De Goey, Adams, Greenwood, and Crisp being omitted.
Some click bait and stat manipulation is expected, I agree with your post but I still think Aish needs to improve to be a certain best 22.

Connolly is filling up column space. Ridiculous to make such a call after two pre-season games. Aish is young, unused to playing with his team mates, acutely aware of the need to prove himself, learning how our coaches want him to play, and probably also tentative about our game plan. He could also be overawed by the club, and the ramped up media attention. In other words give him a chance! Revisit this at the halfway mark of the season.

We don't need an in and under like Greenwood or Adams... Aish will be a handy flanker or winger...

Thats where he will fit in.

P.s. where does Connelly fit in anymore? A tabloid?

Cool story bro... enjoy your 60 seconds of relevance before a 20 year old starts his 3rd AFL season, for the first time in a legitimate footy environment.

P.s. did Rohan Connelly write the article?

I thought the major strength of Aish is his disposal by foot! If not, why did we get him? Now we are being told he is not good enough to sweep and deliver the ball from defence. How can he be an elite kick yet not be a good enough kick? Life is fraught with too much difficulty in this day and age. Nothing is what it seems or what it is said to be. One man's elite kick is another man's scrubber. Are we just throwing perfectly good draft picks and bags of money at overrated hacks?!:mad::cry:

l agree with you, but there some of us that do the exact same thing, but we do it week to week.
with confidence each game he plays he will improve and prove the doubters wrong

Agreed, if you look at his kicks in isolation. when he was afforded time and space he hit targets lace out. then ones he missed were hacks out of stoppages. I'm not sure what people expect from a kid that has played 30 games. at a club that had zero development and he didn't want to be there, his come across to a new club and coming off injuries, and played two PRE SEASON games. and we are already saying his no good.

Have voiced my concerns about the discrepancy between his ability or what we have seen in comparison to the manner in which he is held on here but even still, it's a bit soon to draw a line through his name before we make it to round 1.

Him being 20 or only having played 32 games is not a justification to afford him leniency. If only we had a player on our list of a similar age taken at a similar point in the draft in which to compare him ...

oh wait :$

How is it a ridiculous call?

You just listed 5 reasons as to why he wouldn't make the best 22 come round 1.

I dunno why you would state "Connolly is filling up column space" unless you would say the same about those who want to speculate as to who will play round 1.

Give the kid some time before expecting match winning performances from him... Connolly isn't that far off the money I saying that he would struggle to be best 22 right now. He will be by seasons end though I feel.
