Someone earlier mentioed Tom Hawkins from Geelong. He doesn't seem to it into the lineup down the highway there at catland and he will be able to give Big Ben and Rooey a decent chopout. Also his young enough and can fill both voids simualtanously. Any thoughts?

Younger version of Koschitzke. His size made him appear more talented at junior level than he is. Could be a late bloomer but not worth the gamble for mine.

Yeah if no 1 picked up up and you could get him at pick 200 and he was happy to play for peanuts then might be worth the risk but you wouldnt give anything for him or pay him well

This attitude does make me laugh. We're happy to grab a player so long as he doesn't cost us anything in terms of draft position or salary. The only time the opposition club would be willing to do a deal like this is with a genuine spud who they're trying to get rid of (or extremely rare extenuating circumstances like King).

Tom hawkins is complete shit, i wouldnt touch him a ten foot pole. Terrible attitude, lazy, just shit.

But Dawes, it is worth throwing some money at him.

riewoldt will act as the cloke type decoy while dawes could bob up for a few goals each week.

I say we get Dawes.

Plus we need to equalise the imbalanced karma regarding the luke ball saga.

Comparing Hawkins to Koschitzke is insulting to Kosi. Kosi is probably close to finished, but at least he was good at some stage in his career (R14-20 2005, R1-16 2009).

Bellchambers is another who should be looked at, and of course players can be traded just after signing a contract now, as long as they give permission.

He has 1 shocker and he's crap? Right. N. Roo had a worse game vs Geelong a few weeks ago. What a dud!

Kosi is the comparison you're looking for.

Broken knuckle and is out for 6-8 weeks or something...

Saints could have got Dawes a couple of years back, too late now.
Its called good recruiting, recognising potential.

Come on SS, don't be so narrow minded. He looks good because he's playing in the best drilled side in the league. Plenty of people would have said in '09 we could have got Gilbert or Fisher, etc.

agree here. i'd like to see how he'd go without the midfield delivery he gets. Sort of like hawkins for geelong....has great "spud" potential without the assistance of the better (cloke, mooney, pods) forward there.

Wonder if the club and Brian Lake would entertain the idea of a trade. He's late 20s I think. Could easily fill our FF posi if he was fit...

Kosi kicked the same amount of goals as Dawes last year and kosi was apparently shit.
But Dawes is considerably younger and less experienced.
I must be missing something with Dawes because all I see is a very average footballer.
I think so considering he has only just turned 23 and has only played 43 matches. He is ahead of Koschitzke at the same age though. Sam Reid was great again for Sydney on the weekend, and I'm still convinced he would have fitted into the St.Kilda team perfectly with some foresight.

I think I just read that you think Dawes is better than Kosi at a similar age. Please Dawes didnt even average 2 goals a game in the best side of 2010 as permanent full forward.
