what is his status at the club.you never hear other players talk about him never see him at the games, never seen him interviewed on the b+w show.
what does the other players actually think of him.from a outsider he doesnt seemed to be well respected inside the club.sorry its egan

Yeah, you've got to wonder about him. He certainly doesn't get any respect from opposition players either. They pay out on him unmercifully in the VFL.

I think he will not be on the list next year.

Shame about him, I think he will be gone, and given he was a top 10 pick?? I can't see us getting anything in terms of trade for him either.

Struck me as a guy who acted like he'd made it already....just for being on the list.

Hopefully already De-Listed

have always kept an eye on him because you guys traded the pick to hawthorn in which they drafted jordan lewis, and we gave you the egan pick and a mid thirty pick so you guys could on trade that for chad morrison. It's a shame looked alright early but has really struggled lately

At worst, even if delisted it won't be until after trade week.

Clubs this year are just announcing retirements, with the thought in mind that they might be able to get a trade for a player of value, or possibly even just secure a new club for a player as we did with Ben Davies.

Wakes/Lonie/Holland you can pretty much take as gone. Burns we'll hear about in a day or two IMO. The others will likely be known after October 10th.

I think there is a definate chance we could send Egan to Port for Thomson. Both top 10 draft choices, on the outer at their respective teams, and Egan is the type of player Choco would go for, hopefully the powers that be are interested in getting Thomson

I dont like getting rid of players the year after their knee reco. But unfortunately i was not a fan before he did his knee.

I suppose you'd have to act now if you want anything for Egan. If he has another year of playing VFL level then he carries no value.

We are not goign to get much for him. However, with names such as Thomas out there, his name could come up for trade.

Even if we can score another top 30 pick, it gives us leeway to use our 2nd round pick in some form of trade. If Cousins is available in the National Draft, then we could use the pick from Egan to snare him.

I dont think he fits the mould of what we want at Collingwood. With Didak, Thomas, Davis, Medhurst and Macaffer, we have enough life on the Half forward line and he brings no toughness.

There is no doubting Egan has talent. He just doesn't fit in at Collingwood. I am sure that there will be a club out there that would want to give him a chance however they won't want to pay anything of value.

I would guess that the club will try to either upgrade a pick or if that doesn't work then simply do a Davies/King trade to help him get to a club of his choice. I honestly believe it will be the best thing for both player and club to cut our ties.

The one I feel sorry for is Iles.

we wont get anything for him, iles or stanley/cook/cox or any of those guys either.

delist material from the start

first game v richmond 3 kicks, 3 out on the full...shouldve been his first and last game!

unfortunately for egan 1st impressions are very important and i hated him ever since!

he may get a game at a stand alone VFL club though, but then again from what ive seen he's not even upto VFL level.

Hindsight eh?

We could have ended up with a quality defender. Instead we end up with a useless dud.

Nature of the beast i suppose.

Yeah that was a shithouse trade. Awful.

As was the downgrade for McKee, should have kept pick 3 then we wouldn't have got Roach and maybe would have took Pavlich.

Why you would downgrade a 1st round pick for an average player is beyond me, utter stupidity.

Honestly, taking aboriginal players with a first round pick is just not worth the risk. The strike rate is too low. Too many take too many years to adapt to "city" life and generally have poor endurance and a dislike for the physical standards of AFL. That's juts the reality, not racist, just the way it is. Rioli and Franklin may be exceptions, but not the rule

Hahaha I said something to that effect before, playing with fire there...

I agree though. Rioli also had the benefit of having been at a Melbourne boarding school for 3-4 years before he was drafted so he was already used to it down here and had friends.

Collingwood needed more flair at that time and the deal was done on assurance from Hawthorn that they wouldn't select the player we were targetting (Egan) so we never would have picked up Lewis because we had too many of that type at the time

He's always wanted to be a forward.

Next year play him soley up the front and see how he goes.

That's a stupid notion. Aboriginal players taken with a first round pick have a similar success rate as non-Aboriginal players taken with a first pick.
