Yes, I understand that no single individual can achieve what our club has accomplished. Greatness is forged through a collective, a gestalt system of players, coaches, staff, and supporters all pullingin the same direction. But even within that collective, there are figures who rise above, who become the heartbeat of the journey. And Chris Fagan is undeniably that figure.

He is the steady hand at the helm, the guiding light through both triumph and turbulence. It is on his shoulders that we’ve been carried, through rebuild, heartbreaks, and now, to the brink of something truly extraordinary. His influence is not just tactical. strategic or managerial; it’s deeply human.

Fagan’s brilliance lies not in ego or bravado, but in his relentless work ethic, his emotional intelligence, and his uncanny ability to see greatness in others, then nurture it. He empowers, he inspires, and he leads with a quiet conviction that draws people in and lifts them up. Under his stewardship, the Brisbane Lions have not only become perennial contenders, they’ve become multy premiership winners and most of all believers.

This club, this team, is far from finished. In fact, to me, it feels like we’re only just beginning. And when the story of this era is told, Fagan’s legacy will echo through every chapter. His fingerprints are on every moment, every breakthrough, every roar from the Lions faithful.

Even those who once doubted him and yes, even Fagan himself has spoken candidly about his own battles with self-doubt, anxiety, and panic, can now see the power of perseverance and authenticity. The Fagan Way is not just a coaching philosophy, it’s a testament to resilience, humility, and belief.

So build the man a statue. Celebrate him. Because whether you wear maroon, blue, and gold or simply admire from afar, you’ve been touched by his impact. He’s not just a coach, he’s a builder of culture, a shaper of men, and a beacon for what leadership can truly be.

Thank you, Chris Fagan, for the privilege of walking this journey with you. The ride continues and we’re all better for being on it.

No-one could write a better description of the man and our love and respect for him.

The fact that a man of Chris's age relates and bonds so strongly to the young players says it all about the man imo.. kids today usually just laugh and show little respect to their elders or even to rules and regulations...Chris has the personality to bring everyone and everything, including rules and standards, together..

Beautifully written irel

Not sure if I ever posted about a statue for Fages, I think I have, not sure, but has been in my mind for quite a while that he genuinely deserves one outside of Brighton Homes Arena for what he has done for this club..

He should be a hall of fame coach now. When he first came to Brisbane they were in big trouble. He won a wooden spoon, turned the club around after only two years to be playing finals and now has won 2 grand finals, 3 coach of the year awards. How many if any coaches have ever won a wooden spoon and then won multiple premierships at the same club?

Totally... there is so very much about our now, so many (real) sliding doors moments, so many elements to our culture and our future that just don't exist without Fages being a Lion.

One of the best gifts the AFL ever gave us and at a time we were low enough to accept it.

Thank you Chris.

Beautifully put Irel. And entirely true.

I just feel so fortunate to have this man as our Senior Coach - he has been so transformative and taken us from cellar dwellers to 3 Grand Finals...it is just too incredible to comprehend some times. We have witnessed his mantras of growth and failing our way to the top through 9 years of climbing the mountain.
It is going to be such a sad day to think about the Club without him one day. Whoever steps into his shoes will face some almighty challenges.

During his appearance 'On The Couch' after last year's GF, Fages said ''I'm not as bad on the tactics as some seem to think''. No names were mentioned but we know who Fages was referring to.

We could start a new religion and worship our own holy trinity.
Numerologically, this will tie in beautifully with the coming 3-peat.
Fages the father, Zorks the son, and Lethal the holy ghost.

Surely this too needs to be a certified legendary thread. We must be the shortest priced favourites ever to go the threepeat.

I mean...you could argue we should already be triple premiers. We might be looking at a Penrith Panthers style era.
