AFL Club
Western Bulldogs
Other Teams
Barnsley FC, Melbourne City, Bulls
Chris Grant is the most under-rated player in the AFL.

He is the second best CHF of the last decade. He was in the top 10 players of the 90s. Out of all players currently in the AFL, his career would rank in the top 10.

Hes most likely gonna finish as the Bulldogs all time games and goals leader yet he gets nowhere near the recognition of a Buckley, Voss, Hird or even "%^!ng Paul Kelly. Its a joke

People that don't think of him as anything but a Champion are sadly misinformed. He was brilliant again in 2001

Spot on Flying Egg. He cops a lot of flack for a guy that is the same age as James Hird, yet has played 99 more games then him and kicked 226 more goals then him. He has had an incredible career and will no doubt end up the Dogs leading games player and leading goal kicker. And this year he again single handedly held the Dogs forward line together

Held the forwad line together

Try HOLDING the club together without Granty we would be dead and buried :(

Grant is a great player.

You need to make your mind up on where to play him he doesn't need to be played down back it's either CHF or FF.

Think about it Bulldog1954....

I said held the forward line together. Obviously if Kinger had played forward more often as he should have, it would have been Kinger being the leading player and Grant just being a support player.

Kinger single handedly held the backline together

Definitely not.

Come on!
Course he was.
If we take his brownlow record:

In 1996, it all came down to the last round of the year, Essendon v Footscray, we won by 2 pts (i think!), and Hird and Grant were both fantastic. In the brownlow, HIrd got the three because we won, Grant got the 2 votes. Grant came second by a vote!

NExt year, he wins outright, but was robbed by a bull**** suspension, thanks to Ian "i love Carlton" Collins!!

Course he was in the top ten players in the 90's!!

Exactly right and people sometimes fail to take into account that he is probably the best second effort guy in the league his tackles are crushing and he often has people off the ground injured through fair, bumps and tackles. His skills are the best ive ever seen for a big man without exception and despite the constant bagging of his goalkicking was one of the most relaible shots around this year and kicked alot of clutch goals. The only reason he wasnt given all australian was because it seems to operate on the basis of most improved these days rather than best player. He is a true champion and should be treated as one by all not just doggies supporters.

Looked it up in the Oxford Dictionary. You're right PC:

Chris Grant /Kris Graent/ Prop n 1a. Western Bulldogs 1b. Champion AFL footballer who easily makes list of Top 10 players during 1990s v. 2. to display great leadership, skill and loyalty [Mod. Engl.] (as in ' Although the agent was tempted to defect, he Chris Granted at the last minute')

Totally agree - I support Geelong and Chris Grant has been my favourite player for about 5 years now... Give anything to have him at Catland!

You won't get any arguments from me, Chris Grant is a champ no question.

That's no reason to swear when mentioning Paul Kelly's name though. :)

He is a champion and if Carey hadn't have been around he would be held in the same regard than Carey is.

I think he is better than Dermie... imagine if Grant had theat team around him!!!

He should be a Brownlow medalist and has single handedly won many games for the dogs.. so has Kingsley

So does that make C.McKernan one of the top 10 players of the 90's as well, considering he missed out on the Brownlow for an even more ridiculous decision in 1996??

The Brownlow is not an all-encompassing indicator of how good a player might, or might not have been.

There are tonnes of great players who never polled well in the Brownlow.

   Better than Dermott Brereton????? Dermie had qualities that Chris grant doesn't. He was able to kick bags of goals on regular occasions, his courage was unquestionable, his toughness at the ball was unheard of and he was a big time finals performer. Something that Chris Grant has never been.

Chris Grant, yes a champion but a class below the Brereton's , Ablett's, Carey's, Lockett's and Dunstall's.

Cheers
