That's the only conclusion one can come up with, 4 games into the season, esp following CJ's 'Mardi Gras' performance against the Swans ...

I know I'm an 'overtly negative' poster at times, but shit on a stick, I am convinced Johnson's lack of courage and attack on the ball, putting his body on the line etc, today cost us at least 4 goals agasinst Sydney, which in the final wash-up, proved fatal ...
And his disposal skills left a lot to be desired as well .

He has got to go surely into the VFL next week for the Bullants, that performance today from CJ was sub-standard, and frankly I think we would have had a better chance of winning today if Carlos was in the side, instead of this down hill skier ...

I'm starting to see why Dean Bailey had a go at him last year at the Dees honestly ...

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

agreed.
Can't spoil, can't chase, and for a supposedly good kicker he turns it over by foot a lot.
He is a dud.

The most disturbing thing about our recruiting in recent years, is instead of trying to draft an tall KPP defender out of the under/18's, we try and go and recycle players from other clubs IE Saddington and now Chris Johnson ...

Curse those $%#$^ Bombers for pinching Michael Hurley in front of us in last year's draft ... He would have been ideal for our club ...

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

One of about 5-6 that I would like to see in the bullants next week. Deadset flog. His left foot cost us several goals and he isnt much of a defender either.

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

Average player at best, but is bound to be our new whipping boy. The comparison made to Jordan McMahon is quite apt although thank christ we didnt give away a top 20 pick for him.

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

if he gets a game ahead of Scotland next week I'm convinced Brett Ratten has an ego bigger than Jason Akermanis.

Ratten chased him hard, got him but now has to realise he is soft and may cost him his job.

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

I would have dropped him after last week, I criticised him on BF and was criticised myself !!! He really is no good under pressure, he should not be in ahead of Scotland...no way.. yes he is a good kick.... I;m sure he will improve no doubt, but lacks experience under real pressure at present IMO.

I was thinking the same thing last week. Will be one to look at on the selection table.

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

but he has great skills

that is why he takes the kick outs.

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

So I figure Johnson is the new Russel/Houlihan?

TO be honest Simpson has done FA this year, Stevo is starting to drop off the radar, Cloke has been asleep most days..Despite the initial hype, there seem to be alot of passengers on board our boat these days...

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

What did you expect?

He was let go from what most acknowledge as one of the worst teams in the past 20 years. Worse than that, he was only a fringe player and in all likelihood about our 8th ranked defender by round 22.

No way we were going to get in a ridiculous bidding war for him.

Enjoy the tease that is Chris Johnson.

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

it ain't no fun loosing nor is it good when supporters slag their own players, we must be patient, we are young team under development, plenty to learn and much experience to be gained. think back 5 years ago how geelong supporters felt about their lot, now look at them....

So why was Bailey so filthy about loosing him ?? Why did the Demons want to keep him?? Most see it as a personality issue between him and Bailey.

He's not a bad player, he just needs too learn confidence under pressure, and that will come, conficence is something he didn;t learn at Melbourne obviously.

Good luck tomorrow, well good luck this year.

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

The guy's a soft unaccountable hack with poor decision making skills. Little upside. Us Dees supporters were paying him out just because he bailed on us, we were sick of putting up with his crap for 5 years. He has a good kick on him, but his decision making is poor, which over-rides his actual kicking skill. He's a very very soft guy who turns to butter when someone is within 10 metres of him. You'd be far better off with someone else in his place. Can't believe he's playing ahead of Scotland to be honest. DOnt know what your coaching staff are thinking there!

Bailey wasn't filthy at losing him. Bailey was filthy AT him, because he shopped himself around, made a deal with another club and not sign a new contract, and walked on Melbourne so they didn't get a draft pick for him as compensation for putting 5 years into his development. And then he wouldn't fess up and tell his team mates and friends what he'd done, and rocked up to training despite the fact he wasn't signed to the club anymore, and was going to Carlton. His own friends even told him to f*ck off.

It was nothing to do with losing him, as he is no loss. It was to do with him being a pissweak person and handling himself in an unprofessional manner.

Scotland missed most of the pre-season due to undergoing groin surgery. He played some practice games with the Bullants, & then was rushed into our team for Round 1, when he did alright. Round 2 against Brisbane he struggled to get into the game, his lack of a pre-season catching up with him a bit. A couple of weeks with the Bullants (last week & this week) will hopefully see him more match ready & lead to his reinstatement to the senior team.

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

Ah ok cheers for that. Makes alot more sense, as Scotland is a good player and it seems odd he wouldnt get a game ahead of Chris Johnson without there being a decent reason. Hopefully he is back and firing for you guys soon.

Has he been anymore unprofessional than Colin Sylvia, who has let his team/teammates down on a number of occasions. Or is it a case of different strokes for different blokes?

FWIW, IMO Sylvia is a more piss-weak person than Johnson, because the club have stood behind him despite his off-field lack of discipline & yet he still managed to transgress again this year. There must be degrees of being piss-weak.

Re: Chris Johnson - weak as piss ...

Must say deserves to get dropped but I reckon he would go alright against the dogs. They are not a hard tackling physical side which suits us and he may just excel under those conditions. I would still play him next week before dropping him the following week due to his softness at contests and inability to make a tackle stick
