Agree completely.AFLCA needs more fanfare.
For me it goes AFLCA>Brownlow>MVP in terms of actually rating a season.

Interesting comment, so what actually is 'Most Valuable'?
Judd cant mark over his head, he cant play in the ruck, he can barely kick fifty, he is a rover, a distributer/extractor, pretty much a one trick pony, and a very good trick that is I must say.
Goodes can do everything at an elite level and has him covered as more valuable in its true context.
I think you missed the context. When Judd won the Brownlow and Swan won the MVP, we heard how the MVP was a more accurate reflection of who is better. When Judd wins the MVP, the parameters seemed to have changed for some and now the MVP is not very accurate. It wasn't about the Brownlow, it was about the MVP.

I think that the MVP and the coach's awards are far better indications of a player's worth than the Brownlow. I would rate the coach's award first and the player's awards second. I have never really rated the Brownlow.
Have no problems with Judd winning the Brownlow last year as he had a very good year and was in a group of players who could have won. Not a bolter.
I would have picked Ablett as the player of the year this year, but Judd has also had a fabulous season and is a deserving winner. I rate the player's opinions higher than my own.
I will be amazed if Judd doesn't win both the Brownlow(umps love him), and the coach's award( the ultimate award IMO) as his form this year speaks for itself.
The big dollars, shadowy Visy deal and playing for Carlton have unfortunately coloured a lot of people against Judd. It's a pity as he is one of the players of his generation.
Prepare to be amazed, Judd will not win the AFLCA Award.
Yeah, they'd love him a la Bucks if he earned big dollars at Collingwood instead, got regular Channel 9 gigs from Eddie and played for the Filth.
Call it what it is: pure jealously.
As for the MVP ... what would the players know anyway?

he must have thought it was a bag of money..
LOL what is with all of these Sydney posters whinging? Is it because he won the Norm Smith in '05 when his team lost? Surely you cant think Adam Goodes has had a better season than him considering how quiet he was early and mid-way through this year.He did, then the AFL took it from him and said the Sydney Swans need it becasue we have to pay for all the bills at that joint. They are like the child that can never support itself so they come begging ever year for more money.![]()
fwiw Im not a fool, Ive forgotten more than you will ever know.

It was because of all the above why people tended to ignore Judd's brownlow win, where Carlton fanboys attempt to use the brownlow as some evidence that Judd was the best player in 2010....clearly he wasn't.
.
And now we have collingwood fanboys upset because Swan not only didn't win the Brownlow ..he didn't even come second !
2010 Brownlow medal winner Chris Judd Carlton.
All the whiny threads on BF will never change that fact .
Good on Judd.
Swan won every other award imaginable in 2010...he was clearly the best in 2010.
Will be a laugh when M.Murphy wins the Carlton BnF and the coaches association best player award...more evidence of the tugfest that surrounds Judd in the media!
I think even when Judd has an off night, he still has an influence. Just the fact that he demands as much attention as he does from the opposition gives our other guys the opportunities they wouldn't have if he were absent. You can say that he had a stinker on Saturday, but i don't believe we would've made a close contest like we did if he wasn't there.MVP went missing in both finals when his team needed him most. Yet they say the best players lift in the big games. Well beaten by Heath Hocking and Scott Selwood and had little to no influence on both games.
Meanwhile Pendlebury picked up 38 touches against West Coast in Collingwood's first final and was dominant despite getting tags being rotated off him by both Selwood's. Just saying.
The MVP award has nothing to do with the media ....but lets not let facts get in the way of a jealous whine .
