Don't get me wrong - what Judd did was a "dog" act, and indefensible, and I agree thread would be 3X bigger if a Nth players had done it to Murphy or Judd.

But I think many are getting perverse pleasure because it was Judd who did it, you know, the perfect footballer does wrong sort of thing
Perfect footballers don't have a long history of attempting to hurt helpless opponents but I get your point with the tall poppy syndrome - there would obviously be an element of that in it.

For those of you that don't understand Shoulder anatomy completely, and the causes and effects of dislocation and injury, watch this video from 1:33

And keep in mind whilst watching, that Adams already had a shoulder injury prior to the incident, and that after a shoulder injury, the shoulder joint is much more weaker than before.

The exact movement in this video will automatically pair up with what you see from Judd's actions - actions that had no place in the play in which Adams was on his stomach and a player on his back - and no place in football whatsoever. Only an immoral person would construed his actions in any other way.

ABDUCTION, EXTENSION AND EXTERNAL ROTATION - all causes of dislocation.

Nothing in it, Adams is just another North player faking for a free kick. If Judd gets any weeks the game has become softer than Netball.
So you would be happy to go into next weeks game with opposition playing pinning judd and murphy down and 'restricting their ability to handball'?

For what it's worth, I don't think judd had intent to hurt him, i think he had intent to cause him pain and discomfort but he didn't realise how much damage you can do to a joint that is pretty easy to hurt, because you wouldn't know the limits unless you practice hurting people a lot.

But, you have to accept the consequences of your actions, even if you didn't have intent to do the damage you did. Ziebell is going to sit out for a while as well for the same reasons. He didn't intent to break Simpson jaw and he wasn't the one who put that hospital handball up in front of him, but he has to accept the consequences of his actions.

Well well well North. Oh the hypocrisy..... I guess "The Player's Code" only works 1 way huh?
All club doctors are required to do this, it's not the same as say Adelaide having a little chat about an incident after the MRP has completed it's judgement and found no case to answer.

In all seriousness it doesn't look forceful enough to dislocate Adams' shoulder, surprised to hear it.

Intent was there.
It doesn't take extreme force to dislocate a shoulder, don't know how often this needs to be repeated, but here we go again.

The shoulder is a marvel of engineering that allows an extreme range of movement - the most of any joint in the body. This very range of movement makes is a 'loose' joint.

Serious post now though.

Where do people (Carlton supporters specifically) rank Judd's shoulder pull out of these incidents (1-worse/most dog act, 2-very bad, 3-not as bad, 4-the "best" of the lot/least dog act)

Wellingham hit on Simpson
Hunt standing/stomping on Betts
Lonergans tackle on Carrazzo
and Judd's arm pull.

4 incidents, 1-worst, 4-best, go.

Wellingham
Judd (very close 2nd)

Hope he gets 8 weeks. Poor fella needs a break from all the offended in here.
Seriously, those calling for anything more than 3 weeks are being ridiculous.
The following actions are way more callous than an arm stretch including King Hits ( Hall ), ankle taps ( Fletcher ), Head Butts ( Kerr ) and I could go on and on. Some perspective is required.
I would think 3 or 4 would be about right, Judd appeared to have no other intention than to hurt a player that couldn't defend himself, bit like a sling or spike tackle although the damage was not to the head, looked really ugly makes you wonder what the hell he was thinking.

Only minor force is needed for most dislocations. Get the angles right and that is why you pop. The further the angle is away from "optimum" the more force required, which is why football injuries generally involve high levels of force. I.e. because you aren't lying face down having your arm pulled out and behind your back.

You are completely wrong. You have absolutely no knowledge in anatomy.... Please don't embarrass yourself further - a great % of people have been educated beyond yr 12 human biology.
Watch from 14 seconds on the video.
His first intention is to lift him up and free the ball out.

I hate Carlton more than anyone, but If I take my hate blinkers off I can see that there was no malice in it. The fact Adams resisted made it worse.

Looks like I'm wrong. It is more likely that Judd's pressure resulted in the injury then the subsequent wrenching.

There can be only one...
3AW are reporting that despite the media comments, North are preparing a medical report that absolutely damns Judd.
North don't provide a report, the doctor is required by the AFL to provide an accurate medical report. I don't think any AFL doctor is willing to risk losing their license for providing a false medical report.

Shoulder wasn't 100% going into the game and scan after the game revealed no additional damage and he is a chance to play this week so I wouldn't expect a damning report.

Commetti's "opinion" on the chicken wing...

I gave up after..
"
The umpire did not blow his whistle and Judd had every right to tackle Adams.
Even after the strangeness of it all, I'm not sure what rule was broken. Grabbing the free hand is often branded "the perfect tackle"."
Commetti, give it a rest.

Dude we aren't arguing.

Judd did the wrong thing. He'll get heavily punished for it.

What you say he did was, in a bout of superhuman strength, wrench Adam's arm out of its socket. I'm saying he tried to inflict pain (ugly thing to do) and when pushed inadvertently dislocated the arm.

Its bad, I don't like it and he should be penalised for it.

And btw the hold you describe is good for wrenching the elbow joint not the shoulder. To dislocate his shoulder on his own Judd would of had to push the outstretched arm back over Adams body.
I agree we aren't arguing. I'm just not sure he didn't know what he was doing.

Some people are calling Judd a dog etc. I think he is subject to attacks of rage borne of frustration. So while he sort of doesn't mean to do what he does, he sort of does. Know what I mean?

Regards

S. Pete

Is anyone else of the view that Judd had adams arm before he hit the ground? almost a split second before he hit the ground judd went to grab his arm, and then held on after he hit the ground.

Obviously he has pushed back with the intent to cause discomfort, i'm not disputing that. But i dont think its as if adams was lying on the ground then judds picked up his arm and pulled it back.

On the topic of weeks, i think he should go, but if adams gets up to play this week i'd seriously question the system if he gets more than two. Wellingham gets 3 for putting a bloke out for four, judd gets x for putting a bloke out for zero (if he plays)

Think the afl need to come out and say its unacceptable so it doesnt creep into the game, but the talk of 4+ weeks is ridiculous for mine.

Should get two-three weeks, just as Josh Hunt should have.
I guess an arm grab is worth as much as breaking Simpson's face because you have a good record. o_O

What a croc.

Apparently Judd knows how to pop a shoulder out by grabbing the wrist and elbow.

Adams' shoulder is as suspect as Jamison's. The tribunal will need to consider if it dislocated again after Collins bumped him going for the ball.

Next time, Judd should sling Adams into the turf like Sidebottom did to Mclean. Or drive Adams into the turf like Lonergan did to Carrazzo to break said shoulder. The AFL just pick and choose based on the media attention and how many Helen Lovejoys get on their soap box. The damage is just an after thought.
