..it's dangerous, i don't think the intent was to do serious harm.. ..and it was made much worse by Adams being already pinned down.. ..Judd ought to have gone to ground himself to pin the arm.. ..doing it standing up, it was only gonna end poorly..

..however, it's been creeping into the game again, and this is the worse instance of it to date.. ..but a couple of weeks ago Rioli did a similar 'chicken wing' tackle vs Warnock.. ..footage was shown on 'on the couch'.. ..Warnock was falling and kinda managed to roll free, plus McLean [i think] was right alongside and ripped Rioli off of him..

..the thing is, a 3rd player coming in to grab an arm is happening more frequently, with the repeated contests and gang tackling, intense attitude of the modern game.. ..this 'current' one is made much worse by the fact that Adams was face down with Carrazzo already over him.. ..and the odd nature of it will perhaps make precedent..

If there is a thermal explosion from the direction of the Carlton board you will know both the time and the verdict. :D
I suggest a 48 hour lock down of the Carlton board starting at 6pm tomorrow to stop some of the delusional ones working themselves into a frenzy.

There's an interesting segment on Access All Areas in which they play some of the radio commentary from this incident. Compared to the channel 7 commentary, they take it far more seriously. (Billy Brownless a bit too much). Sorry, no link but it's available on the AFL homepage in Latest Videos.

And Dennis, I love your commentary but seriously that opinion piece that was posted in this thread earlier is a bit embarrassing.

lol how Luke Darcy tries to justify Judds poor behaviour. He then quickly moves the topic on to Daniel Rich from Brisbane pushing someone into a fence. Take your hand off it Darcy. If the 4 incidents involving Judd were done by someone like Beau Waters you would be asking for a 12 match ban you flog.

Rioli's opponent was upright with possession of the footy, rioli's intent was for the player to incorrectly dispose of the ball.

Absolutely no intent to injure the player and the clowns on the couch should apologise for smearing rioli on next week's show.

..i did mention Judd's was worse due to Adams already being pinned down.. ..i don't think he meant to dislocate, it was poorly done no doubt.. ..but aside from that, an extra number coming upon a contest is grabbing at an arm to force a free.. ..you see it often enough, players are getting gang tackled all the time and often the extra number just grabs at what he can.. ..Judd's is the worse of recent memory, but it's a dangerous practice all-round..

..i didn't think they were showing footage to discredit Rioli, but rather that Judd's 'chicken wing' isn't an isolated case, but rather the fact Adams was pinned down is what made it unusual..

How can people still use the Judd's a good bloke line?

Have people forgotten how smug he was when he got off the eye gouging charge against Campbell Brown? Said he was pleased the tribunal found him not guilty and that he should never of been up anyway.

NEWS FLASH

The AFL's Match Review Panel decided it could not consider the charges against Chris Judd, as they were considered too serious for the MRP.

The Tribunal has now decided that the matter is also considered too serious for the Tribunal to deal with.

Consequently the Tribunal has referred the matter directly to the International War Crimes Commission where offences such as torture can be dealt with.

It is also believed that the French police want to interview a certain Monsieur Judd over the incident in which tacks were placed on the course of Le Tour overnight. Judd has indicated that he meant the riders no harm -" I just wanted to puncture their tyres so the riders would slow down on the dangerous descent."

They can't use the he's a good bloke line. He either should move to Rugby or UFC. More money there anyway.
In 20 years time he will be part of the High Society Untouchable Club in Melbourne. Another good reason not to live there. ;)

They absolutely were discrediting rioli - Roos stated that rioli was lucky for it not to be looked at. You're kidding yourself if you think players grabbing an arm in a tackle (where there are countless examples) is a comparable act to what Judd will rightly get weeks for.

Look at the angle the wrist bends at, could've broken it (I'm assuming).

How these incidents are that much different in the severity is beyond me - one no more malicious than the other - the response appears to be explained by the level of injury sustained by the opponent - which is the exact thing posters week in, week out lament when it comes to the tribunal.
If he stomped on his hand and busted it (or dislocated?) yeah fair call. I didn't like Hunt's low act much and the result was Betts was fine I believe. Wouldn't have minded though if Hunt got a week btw. Maybe if Judd just held his arm and not yanked it, could be a different story.

I'm in the level of injury camp myself, would it be considered fair for Hunt to get the same weeks as Judd? Would it be fair for Scarlett to get months for a punch where injury was non existent?

A lot of people were disgusted with this incident as well... myself included. This should have been classified as a stomp and been 4 weeks. Judd's is a step up from Josh Hunt's stomp.

What absolute bullshit, Darcy is a complete tool.

"He's getting tagged, he's getting harassed, he's getting his face drilled into the ground, occasionally you go for the pressure point and he's done it a couple of times."

Getting tagged and copping close attention doesn't justify it, can't believe he'd say that. Plenty of players cop a lot of attention on the field. I've never seen Pendlebury do anything like that. Nor Swan, or Hayes, or Watson or Thompson or Ablett or Bartel etc etc. These guys and others cop it as much as Judd does, it's no excuse to lash out like this shoulder incident... or the eye gouging incidents.

I get the feeling the MRP sent it directly to the tribunal because under the points system it wouldn't have gotten much, which makes me think that he's going to get more weeks than I'd expect (which is around 2-3 with the loading).

Edit: Just would also like to add that what Rich got suspended for, Judd did to Sam Gilbert in the match either last year or the year before. Shoved him into the fence, didn't even get looked at, in fact whoever was commentating at the time (actually think it was Walls) said it was a great message Judd was sending that he wasn't going to accept a close, scragging tag or something along those lines and was prepared to get physical if need be.

Robert Walls serial know-it-all with a condescending tone when he commentates. Biased tooljob.

Why do you think it is a step up?

Can anyone find Hunt's thread? Surely it's not 80+ pages long.
Suck it up. Your Visy, Pokies, Limousine-ordering from training boy is going to get outed.

Your dodgy club can afford it anyway. So stop complaining and harden up!

From the mouth of Mark Fraser on the MRP:

"Unsportsmanlike in nature... has the potential to bring the game into disrepute"

"In this case, there was an exacerbation of an injury"

For those who believe pre-existing injury doesn't hold sway, there's your proof that it does.
Remember Stevie Bakers 9 week holiday for smashing Johnson's hand.

Hey Chris Judd, how about a sabbatical for you to focus on your multi-million dollar pokies interest and inflict more misery on those poor punters who put coins in your slots?

Just make sure you apply plenty of grease to those one arm bandits you own.

Surely you wouldn't want any of those poor pokie players to do an RSI injury, pulling on any of your own one arm bandits! ;) the bottom line Juddy, the bottom line ;)

Storm in a teacup.

Barely anything in it. If this wasn't Chris Judd we'd be saying, "That doesn't look good", then move on.

It seems there are tons of Judd haters out there that just want to see him gone because I guess they hate the fact that he was maybe gifted a brownlow, or perhaps they think he's a protected species, his special VISY deal or they're just plain old jealous.

Let's stick to the facts. Judd did something that looked fairly bad, didn't injure anyone (it simply exacerabated an existing injury according to the MRP medical analysis) and it was dealt with by the North players when they dumped him on his ass.

He should get fined for misconduct. If the tribunal go nuts on this and he gets weeks then it's for no other reason than the media circus that's surrounding this. Some of the comments I've heard by the football media, who I find distasteful at the best of times, have already had him tried and executed in an effort to make themselves feel important.

I am really looking forward to his interview after the fact. Hopefully it tops his Steven Segal one.
