It wouldn't surprise me if the eagles offered him a $100,00-$150,000 contract at the end of the year, which if he accepts will see our chances of keeping him long term greatly increase (and what 18yr old wouldn't accept such a contract?).

I'm sure the eagles are well aware of his potential and the risk of losing him to Victoria, and would no doubt have already started their strategy to keep him (like pairing him up with hummer, flying his parents over, and yes, probably considering offering him a longer contract).

And if all else fails, they can always offer him a vice-captaincy :D

Vice captaincy might not work, just ask Freo.

Like d4e said, the eagles knew what they were getting into when they drafted him, they must have a plan to keep him

Everybody said Nick Stevens wanted to go home the first couple of years he was at Port but that seems to have blown over (at least until his next contract, which isn't for a couple of years anyway). A lot of it seems to be driven by the Vic clubs and media (I recall the Collingwood supporters saying he was a definite to go to the pies, 2 weeks after he signed for 3 years), like the Pavlich stuff is driven by the Adelaide section.

(btw, Nick got tagged in his 3rd game ;) , but it isn't like we had a Cousins to tag as well)

Nick Stevens has re-signed twice until now - not too homesick.

I had a quick chat with Chris a couple of weeks ago. He said he was very happy at the Eagles and was very positive.....but.....I could feel an undertone that he was saying the right things but feeling homesick. It's understandable, he is very young and a few thousand Km's away from his family (who are very close to him) and friends. But it is early days and Chris will develop as a person as well as a footy player over the next two years. If he is treated well by WCE (and they usualy do), he makes friends and there is success on the horizon I see every reason why he would wish to continue to be part of this great club.

Polak, smolak.......Who needs him? The West Coast Eagles' selectors know what they are doing. And they selected Judd. And we celebrate...:D

i think that he will stay. i have no doubt that when his contract is up all clubs will have a crack at him. i don't like his chances of being offered a vice captaincy at west coast if they keep their current captaincy policy.
