There was a 2-page article on Chris Judd in the Herald Sun today, and I must say i'm more optimistic about him becoming a superstar than ever. Among the things that were written were:

*Judd won the B&F in the under-9's, 10s, 11s, 12s, Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9. Thats 7 B&F from a possible 8. The year he missed out was because he played half a game in the under-9s then went to play the second half for the under-10s.
*In his 1st year at Caulfield Grammer he was BOG in 7 of the 10 games he played. Of the other three he missed, 2 were through illness and he was 2nd BOG in the third  In yr11 he had limited game time due to shoulder recons, thats why he didn't add to his B&F count
*Barry Rowlings, a former Hawthorn player and his footy coach at Caulfield Grammer said "I don't want to put the other kids down, but Jesus Christ they have to be something special to beat him" (referring to Hodge and Ball being drafted before him).
*He played senior footy with Caulfield Grammer when he was in yr9!
*Last year, against Haileybury, he booted 12 goals and set up another 6 playing in midfield with occasional spells at FF for a rest. He followed that game up with bags of 2,6,8,5,5,3.
*He first popped his shoulder out when he was 9, and this was been happening on and off for the next 7 years. In 2000 his shoulders were "popping out every two weeks"(quoting his dad) so he decided to have them operated on (His surgeon said his shoulders are now stronger than average).
*While recovering from the shoulder recons, he spent his time training in his own gym in his garage. His oldman reckons he was always positive and focused, a sign of his professionalism.
*Worsfold said Judd works as hard at training as Cousins and Jakovich and does not show any signs of arrogance (apparently never brags and doesn't take his abilities for granted).
*Worsfold said that even if west coast had the #1 pick at last years draft, they would have gone for Judd. The club was very happy when they got him at #3.

This guy is incredible! If he was good enough to play senior footy at 15 for a private school in a league where a lot of future AFL players play, imagine how good he had to be! If he can be that dominant in the AFL....

Even though it will be great to see him become a huge success, I just hope that he will become a huge success at the Eagles.

But even if he doesn't stay with West Coast, he'll still become a legend.

Um, no, he actually wasn't that good today. He played on Fiora who killed him in the last 3 quarters. He like a number of midfielders, was not prepared to run defensively today.

Visro...are you blind! Did you see him peel of Fiora all those times. He was a target for the team. He was preety good all things considering!

No I'm not blinded! Aaron Fiora was there when the game was to be won and Judd didn't stop him one bit. He also got more possesions overall. Judd's game was pretty average, take the glasses off.

I'm with Visro. Judd played good in the first Q but then went missing in the last 3 quarters. I think everyone is expecting too much from Judd.

Judd was good in the first quarter but pretty quiet from then on. Full credit to Fiora who showed Judd a thing or two today

Fiora took the honours easily in the end

IAM BEGINNING TO JUST FLAT HATE RICHMOND....LOSING TO THEM IS SOMETHING I AM UNFORTUNATELY GETTING USED TO.

Fiora thrashed Judd today.

Hope Judd learns from it. We need to be sensible about our expectations - he is a first year player. I prefer him up the ground.

Incidentally, why is it that whenever a player is in the paper, they play poorly that week. My heart sank when Chambers was in the West today.
