Well he is an explosive runner with excellent disposal, incredibly hard to tackle, reads the play very well and can break a game open off his own boot.

Apparantly he got suspended in 2009 for some "eye-gouging" charge so the first three games are non-starters. But otherwise he could possibly win another Brownlow.

Oh did I forget to mention he is a former premiership captain at West Coast who won a Brownlow and a Norm Smith while playing for their side. He also won the last two John Nicholls medals as our best and fairest.

If I had to compare him to a current AFL player I would say he is similiar to Daniel Armitage from the Saints. Not that I would compare the two as clearly there is a huge distinction in talent.

Overall he seems like a pretty good player and since he has the captaincy I'd expect to him be fairly good for us in 2010

Judd slowly finding his voice, say Blues
"He would say that he is more of a guy that leads by example than words," Swann said. "(But) now he is starting to be a lot more vocal and having a go at a few guys about things that have been happening but, from our point of view, we think he has been fantastic both on and off the field and he has been outstanding for us."

"At the end of the day, what happens is up to the individual. I mean, Chris can't be expected to walk around and follow someone 24 hours a day," Swann told Melbourne radio.

"But, as he said on (The Footy Show) and I have spoken to him about it, he is still learning and he is still a relatively young guy . . . so he is learning on the job."

Judd mastering the role of on-field general
So, for Parkin to label Judd's 30 disposals against the Crows, featuring 15 contested possessions and nine tackles, as one of the more remarkable efforts he had seen, well, that carries great weight.

"I think he [Judd] speaks with his legs and hands, and I have no doubt he is one of the more inspirational leaders that club has had on the field," Parkin said. "There is no doubt what he did last week was remarkable in the context of how difficult that would have been to come into that situation where the club had to win and he was playing his first game of the season.

"I just watched a number of times where a young bloke has got into trouble, they didn't look to who was in a better position, they looked to see where Judd was.

"They knew Judd would make the end product of whatever they gave him reasonable. I think that's a wonderful capacity to have in the game at the moment."

Leading the team - Maxwell and Judd do it their own way
Not that Lloyd doubts Judd can succeed. “It's the work-rate. I've watched Carlton train. They all go in, he stays out. He absolutely flogged himself. Chris Judd works on his speed; next thing eight blokes are getting the sprint coaches because he's doing that. It's phenomenal the way he's raised the bar from a preparation point of view.
Nathan Buckley also admires Judd from afar. “There's no doubt those players walk taller when he's out on the field,” he said. “Drawing a line from that, you'd have to say Judd's pushing the right buttons at Carlton.”
"He's a fantastic young man who happens to be an outstanding footballer, but he's not the perfect package,” said Riley. “They're not that easy to find. But he's learning like everyone does. You learn from the journey of life and you learn from your mistakes sometimes. He's put up his hand and said 'I'm not perfect in this area'.”

Captain not so obvious James Hird
When players bring unwanted media attention on the club for no good reason - and take the focus away from what you're trying to achieve - it frustrates you no end.

Carlton skipper Chris Judd would know what I'm talking about after the Blues' infamous "booze cruise" in December.

The players involved would have been close friends, but as captain you have to make a stand.

The effects have been seen on-field this season; Judd looks to have absolute commitment from his teammates.

You can also see the respect the entire Carlton team has for him, especially young midfielders Bryce Gibbs and Marc Murphy, who must be thankful to be learning from one of the great modern midfielders.

Even though they have respect for Judd, they need to stop looking for their captain a lot of the time.

Especially if Judd wasn't the best option because he had three Hawks hunting him...
