Watched him tear us apart while the swans were up,but since that midfield has split judd, kerr and cousins I have changed the way I see them as individual players

People saying he was nowhere to be seen when the game was on needed to look harder. He was going in harder and more often than any other Blue. His disposal was poor often today but **** he is one tough SOB. He desperately needs help inside at Carlton.

I still rate him as one of the best 3 midfielders in the competition. Despite my hatred for WCE during the middle of the 2000's i just couldn't hate Judd. Too much respect for him, nothing's changed.

Its funny how many Colingwood supporters pot Chris Judd, I can remember when he was tossing up between moving to Carlton or Collingwood how many of the supporters were j**king off dreaming how he would look in a Collingwood jumper .

that's rubbish. It would have cost us Travis Cloke and Scott Pendelbury to get him according to the Eagles demands. Hahah laughable, you wouldn't even trade Judd and a 1st round pick for either of those two

Definitely overrated.

The commentary was sickening at times with their repeated praise of him and yet he was one of the biggest butchers of the ball in that game. They disparaged the other mids by calling saying that judd was the lone hand. If anything, the get the ball to judd game plan is killing Carlton.

What about judd taking five or six steps getting tackled without a free against him? The commentators were making excuses for him instead of praising the player who tackled him and commenting on the umpires who "missed" the call.

This has all the markings of the nicole kidman effect.

I feel sorry for the likes of Murphy who gives his all for the team and is often overlooked because he is in a team with judd.

Agree with most of this post 100%

Without a doubt a great player but nowhere near above and beyond a lot of other players in the comp that get little to no recognition. Matthew Boyd is easily Judd's equal if not slightly gone past him but isn't even regarded in the same bracket.

I think most of my dislike for Judd actually stems from Robert Walls.

The way the commentary continually pumps him up for winning the same hard ball as somebody else that they don't mention and then completely disregard when he assists in an opposition goal.

I think a lot of it is the constant overrating of given by the media who are for some reason completely smitten with him that forces the hand of the general public who have their own opinions, eyes, and ability to discern the good from the bad to feel the need to point out the facts.... or 'knock' him.

The real equation is quite simple -

Judd got 15 contested posessions today, however he had no opportunity to create anything from those possies.

A - He doesn't have the bodies around him to clear the path he needs to use his speed,

B - He doesn't have the speed he had 3 years ago,

C - He's having to do more work, more often and this is having an effect on his "run on" ability.

The hard questions should be asked of Murphy and Gibbs - neither have stepped up to be great ball "winners" - Gibss is an excellent "kick behind" player but should not be considered to be a "ball winner",

.......and Murphy simply isn't strong enough to impose himself on every contest like a Hayes or Bolton.

Murphy SHOULD be playing like a Kieran Jack or Sam Mitchell - trouble is, he's playing like Adam Schneider or Luke Power.

These are the reasons why Carlton recruited BrockMcLean - he has the attitude but doesn't have the game unfo.

Just some facts - no charge...;)

Judd has been/is a great player but his reputation is out of control. At West Coast there was Cousins & Kerr with him & they all fed off each other, however the Victorian media Judd was made out to be a cut above these 2. I think a a lot of it had to do with him being a Vic in an interstate side, Browns value in Brisbanes 3 flags was overstated because of this also & even Fraser Gehrig was overated when at the West Coast, although he was pretty good for St Kilda.

What I find annoying is how every time Carlton win it's on the back of Judd but whenever they lose it's all down to the young fellas like Gibbs, Murphy & Simpson not supporting him or protecting him. Why should these younger blokes be protecting Judd? Shouldn't they be the ones being protected by a stronger bodied player such as Judd? Look at McLean, he was a young bloke dishing it out to older blokes at Melbourne like Yze, Bruce, Green & Johnstone & now his body is stuffed. Judd should be doing more to get the younger guys into the game, not the other way round.

What a load of garbage - the ONLY reason Carlton is even remotely competative at stop plays is because of Judds expereince and ability.

Even Joffa knows that.

WHEN -

- Boyd Captains a grand final side,

- WHEN he wins a Brownlow,

- WHEN Boyd gets 15 conteseted possies in a 40 point loss,

........we'll listen to you -

Until then, it's clear your dislike stems from the fact that if Collingwood had Judd you would have won three flags in the last three years.

Seems Dane Swan just ain't up to the task................maybe this year?

How many kicks did Judd's opponent have in the first half? How many did Judd have?

He can be a very good player but he wasn't today and he has a few glaring deficiencies in his game. i.e. can't mark, doesn't defend and his disposal is poor. Those who are saying Murphy et al need to block for him, I suggest Carlton might be a better team if Judd blocked for Murphy occasionally.

Ru - your point is well made although its not as simple as that - what I saw today was player who obviously "felt" like he had to do more and more, and the result was poor disposal and frustration.

He still gets the ball in a better position at stop plays than pretty much anyone and has far more impact that a Swan or Boyd around the packs - trouble is, neither Murphy or Gibbs can be relied on to get the ball clear with the same effect -

...........so waddya do, accept 2nd best to get Murphy into the game?

judged way too harshly on bigfooty

still as good as anybody going around

tbh i think his "decline" since leaving wc has been hugely overstated

he may have lost a little explosion and isn' t quite as penetrating with his disposal, but other than that, the cause of his inferior performances at carlton is because he plays alongside a bunch of absolute ******** squibs like gibbs, murphy and simpson who give him nothing

compare this to his wc days, when he had cousins taking taggers, kerr helping him with the inside work and jones, stenglein etc blocking for him at stoppages, he had heaps of space to work with, which he just doesn't have at carlton.

he just doesn't have the opportunities to use his his main strengths, which are his acceleration and evasiveness

there is a reason carlton went after mclean, judd needs support

I guess I get sick of seeing the Chris Judd knockers. This bloke is a superstar. I just watched the Carlton vs Swans game and this bloke had to do so
much on his own. He gets no support or protection like Ablett. He has to do it on his own like Buckley did at the Pies for years. He tackles, chases, smothers and works hard and cops the full attention of the opposition. He is not only one of the greats of the modern game but is one of the greats ever.

A Collingwood supporter on Judd's side!

About time non carlton supporters give Judd the respect he deserves!

chris judd ?

i aint sure chris likes being a one man team so my question is could he ask for a trade from carlton at the end of this season?

before answering the reason he came to carlton is because he thought they were a genuine premiership contender in the next few seasons. with the club having off field issues pre season could it happen?

Re: chris judd ?

would be a bit suspicious if he leaves Carlton and Visy at the same time then gets a job at a company connected to his new club

Re: chris judd ?

it wasn't about moving there because he thought they were a premiership chance, it was because he liked the idea of helping rebuild a club rather than arriving at a ready-made one (i guess it balances out the whole mercenary thing?).

anyway, you never know i guess. he's still contracted so clubs would have to pay out the nose even more, or be refused trade by carlton. regardless i'm sure he was a happier man in the middle of the year though.

And I think he's lost a lot more hair than usual in the past few weeks.
