I would suggest slotting him out onto the wing and run Murphy and Robinson in the centre. If the opposition want to tag him, they will have to send their best midfield tagger out onto the wing to try and curb him. I reckon that could be a very good tactic when he starts getting a hard tag.

Actually had this thought while watching the game. Nobody would tag him out there and I don't think any team has a defensive winger yet.:D

Thing is he's lost his early season zip and if it's not injury per Ratten then it's wear and tear.

Hopefully he's cherry ripe for rnd 1 but either way I'd move him away from the ball up (and not necessarily forward) more often as his career winds down.

Otherwise the midfield needs to take an extra step as a collective before he's not the first one tagged.

Gibbs moving through there on Sat night would have been handy.

Judds best work is his clearance work, I dont think moving him to the wing when players like Simpson play it much better

We need to block a little better and he probably needs a rest. Other than that what can we do? If the opposition wants to have somebody hanging off his shoulder all game, we need to make them pay through using our other mids better. Murphy can easily cut teams up who worry about Judd too much

Not as a permanent thing obviously but just to break up the norm.

I could see him coming in off the square at a centre bounce and going away with a handball receive.

He's as good a reader of the ball on the run as he is in tight.

had 34 touches against freo in round 21.

since then has struggled for space and time expect for a few patches.

did the hawks try something new against him and the other 3 teams copied?

probably his worst month of form for the cfc. something has to be up.

Voted too harshly on this board? He was voted our best in both 2009 and 2010. Not judged harshly at all.

Also might helped if you looked up the definition of 'relative' (as well as the correct spelling of quiet). I never claimed he had a quiet season - just quiet by his standards. It just so happens that a quiet season from Judd has him comfortably in our best 2 players.

Is it not worth noting that his performances against the top sides were below his usual standards? Of the six games against top 4 sides, he only polled vs. Collingwood. Was well held by WC twice and Hawthorn and quiet vs. the Cats. Little impact in either Saints game.

He managed 25+ touches on 14 ocassions this season. Only 4 against top 8 sides. Only once vs a top 4 side.

Is his style of play too easily countered by plonking a big bodied midfielder on him at the stoppages? What can he do to ensure that he still has an impact when he's not winning clearances? What can his teammates do to ensure he continues to have an impact? Does he need to sacrifice a bit of size to improve agility?

Can we afford to have him play more outside and start damaging teams with his blistering acceleration now that we've got the players who can hold their own on the inside?

I have no doubt the MC and coaches will be assessing these questions over the season and don't see the harm in posing them here, either. Easy enough to stick your fingers in your ears and claim that Judd is invincible, but assessing closely there's little doubt that the opposition are having more success diminishing his influence on a game.

Well the spelling police are out in action, is that the best you can come up with? Yes I do know what relative means too. You are Judging Judd's whole season on his last 4 games. Stop looking at the stats sheet to see how many touches someones has to determine if they had a good game or not. Touches mean shit in todays games, it is so easy to pad your stats. You don't need the stats sheet when watching Judd to determine if he had a good game or not.

Obviously Judd's very lucky to make the all Australian team tonight, lucky the selection team didn't see his relative quiet season, otherwise he would have missed out.

:heart::heart:JUDD:heart::heart:
He did seem to be held over the last month and a bit but still, champion player, had a great year; THE BEST.

Definitely been down, but still an absolute champion...

Obviously it is known he is getting ridiculously held at each contest, and the only reason he doesn't get as many frees as he should is because he is a monster and stands up in these tackles and doesn't drop to his knees or duck his head like other players we know....

Needs a healthy break and top notch pre-season next year, and look out....

Righto. No point wasting any more time as you failed to address any of the points posed above. :thumbsu:

judd still a great player even after finals series he will win the brownlow

I think it is highly unlikely Judd will win the Brownlow. There is more chance of Jason Tutt winning it than Judd winning it for the reasons

1) Judd is a tall-poppy that people like to knock down
2) he won it last year in controversial circumstances
3) the moty award is clear indication that Carlton is on the outer.

The winner will be out of Pendlebury, Ablett (will get lots of 2 votes in matches, not many 3s due to team losing) and Goodes.

Everyone needs to get over this individual award cr@p...

Judd is the CAPTAIN of our football club and his and the clubs priority next season is a flag, nothing less...

To achieve this, Judd will need a chop out in the middle, play forward more and most importantly have a week off here and there...

Hodge, Swan, Pendles, Ablett, Kelly, Bartell have all had time off this year to get their bodies right or just to have a rest... Do you think they really care about Brownlows or AA awards???? Flags are what counts...

Judd fresh is almost unstoppable and should have had the bye and the Saints game on the Gold Coast catching some sun...

There is absolutely no way in hell Ablett will win the Brownlow. In fact i doubt he even finishes top 5. I'm not doubting his play this year, he was phenomenal, but GC were spanked way too many times for him to warrant votes in enough games. Especially early in the season. They won, what 3 games? No chance in hell imo.

I agree with what you said about Judd though, i actually think Murphy will poll more votes. Goodes will win his third brownlow this year i think. Very consistent once again and always a stand out in Sydney wins.

Both Judd and Goodes will poll the majority of their votes in the second half of the season. I would not be at all surprised if Murphy is leading the count after 15 rounds.
