It's almost sad watching Judd play. A once champion footballer having almost no impact on a match. Those electrifying dashes are now a distant memory. I guess injuries catch up with every footballer - Juddy succumbing a little earlier than other greats.

Don't know if I'd call it sad. Every player slows down eventually. He hasn't had to suffer a knee reconstruction (or several). Could be a lot worse. The only thing that's sad is watching the media admit through clenched teeth that maybe he isn't the best player in the competition now (he isn't anyway and hasn't been for years).

Bruce you tosser it was a shank not cleaver

Yep, I am used to the commentators worshiping him unnecessarily, but when he miscued a 15 metre chip pass tonight by about 5 metres and Bruce called it "clever" I laughed out loud.

Thought he was much better tonight, but still his opponent seems to find a bit of the pill too at the minute.

Can't blame him for the loss though. I wonder why they didn't give Judd a few weeks off before the bye?? Seems like Ratten is so desperate to keep his job he is rushing players back and playin them underdone. Surely giving Judd two weeks off 7 weeks ago would have meant a better chance to win the matches before the bye??

Judd was ok tonight. Seemed to be the only Blue trying to do something. Judd had 29 posessions but Sewell, who wasn't tagging him just playing loose, had over 20 himself and a heap of clearances.
I reckon if Judd was younger he'd be looking for a trade

Had an alright game tonight?? Still getting no protection at stoppages.

And why exactly does he need protection at stoppages? Why do people think that other player should line up like pillars so Judd gets easier ball. This is the mentality that creates bad football teams where individuals are greater than the whole.

Have you never played a game of football in your life? It happens for every player.

Going by those comments, I doubt he has. I can recall running in off the square as a HB and bunting the opposition wingman out of the way so our gun wing could get a clean run at it. Working to free your teammates is what makes good footy teams, not bad ones.

McLean and Carrazzo were bumping Sewell every opportunity they got.

Can't say the same for other players. But overall Judd received a lot more help from his teammates last night than the months prior.

Judd had a good game last night. Lulz at the *******s writing him off for being a leader and playing through injury.

I really do wonder whether Judd is genuinely on the decline. If he is, then as someone who enjoyed all that he did for the Eagles, I would find it very sad. Personally, I think that he played his best footy for the Eagles, but if Carlton fans think otherwise then that's great.

After he left the Eagles I tried to watch as many Carlton games as I could just to watch Judd. I haven't felt like doing that for the last couple of seasons.

He was certainly what Carlton needed at the time, and while he is unlikely to win a flag with them his contribution to the club has been huge.

I always thought that part of the reason that Judd chose Carlton was because of Richard Pratt and the opportunities that may be available to him through Pratt during and after his football life. I don't know whether the goal posts moved after Pratt died.

Judd's always given the impression that while he liked his footy it is just part of his life, not his life and I'm a bit worried that if he can't continue to perform at his lofty standards he might just give it away.

Having said that, all the debate in relation to Judd might just be a bit premature. I look at Kerr, he did nothing for 3 years, now look at him.

had a pretty good game tonight. doesnt have the penetrating kicking but didnt miss many targets. and just his clean hands that gives it to the outside runners is amazing. he sets up 90% of there plays.

Didn't do much in the early stages when Carlton got on top. Only bobbed up and got the disposals when others around him were brimming with confidence. His impact on the game was minimal, despite his possession tally, imo.

Try and watch the game before you post, it will make you look much less stupid..... well maybe not going by most of the stuff you post.:thumbsu:

not sure what game you watched.

He was exceptional in the third quarter when Collingwood were coming back.

Looked pretty good to me.

"try and watch the game before you post herp derp".

yeah i did and that was my opinion douchebag. didn't think he had much of an impact and was more of a third link than influencing the game directly through turnovers or brillant play.

Anyone who believes we got shafted in the Judd trade, is an idiot.
This trade has been a win for both clubs, and good luck to Josh Kennedy in the rest of his career at WCE, Masten also.
But I'll gladly have Juddy in our jumper too. Was phenomenal tonight, again.
