To me I don't think you would want to give up anything amazing for him, and as we have Sylvia and Bate as our half forward flankers I don't see him filling a position of need.

If he expressed a desire to return to Vic I'd place in a good offer but I wouldn't see him coming to us.

Why would you put a good offer to someone who you don't see filling a position of need?

Pointless trading for the sake of trading.

Knights will be more valuable to the crows then whatever market price he holds.

Well what I'm saying is Knights doesn't fill an obvious position of need, he isn't a tall forward, gun mid, or ruckman. But we are also looking at going back to back wooden spoons and if the price is right we could add any young promising player to our team regardless of position. By good offer I'm probably suggesting our third round pick (should be around 35ish which of course Adelaide fans won't see as a good offer).

Adelaide wouldn't let Knights go if they had a say.

Knights wouldn't want to go to Melbourne.

Knights is worth more than a 2nd round pick which Melbourne wouldn't even part with.

/thread.

This is a ridiculous thread. Knights is a slightly better than average player and whilst we don't have too many like players at the moment, why on earth would we want another small midfielder/forward.

As for the talk of a first round draft pick you have got to be crazy. We should not be giving up a first round selection unless it can be used to get an already young elite player to the club. eg Joel Selwood (it's only an example)

Knights is never going to be an elite player yet some on here want to entertain the thought of giving up pick 2 in exchange for him. Let's just continue on our path of getting the best young talent available and building a team of our own players unless the above point applies.

If we trade for anything less than an already elite player, it has to be tall players that can either play up forward or in the ruck. We look to be getting Scully who will add some polish and class to our midfield and whilst we could do with more players like that - tall forwards are a bigger priority.

Knights is not the answer. Think young talls who have been in the system a couple of years eg. Dawes, Reid, Thorp who haven't established themselves at their current club but are physically capable of playing a key forward role. With that said, I don't think many clubs will be looking to make trades this year due to the shallow draft pool and the chance to make bigger deals with the Gold Coast being only 12 months away.

Knights went for Melbourne as a kid (although I am aware of what good that did with another 'Chris')
Fair enough, I wasn't aware of that but as you say it hasn't been much help of late with grabbing players from other teams.

Knights is a good player, but he's a similar type of player to McLean, Moloney & Jones.

He's a decent kick but he isn't an elite kick. As our players are generally having problems finding targets by foot on a regular basis i don't think Knights would drastically improve our situation...
