Haha, you do realise that your footy club NEVER get deals done for one reason or another yeh?

Your trading record is incredibly poor.

Also, once you "walk right across to the Doggies", they will just tell you to keep on walking because you have no chance of landing Ryan Griffen.
Never is a long time, might mention 2 names McLeod-- D Jarman - 2 premierships each . Two main players in those premierships .
More than you guys can brag.
Would not write off Griffen deal yet but personally believe will be the Bombers if goes at all .;)

what has that got to do with anything?

your clutching at straws. If Knights goes there will be a deal done. He isn't a wanker like a certain ex-PP player and he'll end up where he can be traded to.

I'd like to see West Coast go after him hard. I'd say maybe something like:

McKinley or Lynch + 28 to Gold Coast
for Pick 15-19 on traded to Adelaide for Knights (Offering a very attractive salary package)

Try and beat out any other clubs offer

Wood is obviously paying under for Knights. Although I think Wood could be a clever pick up for another side. Wood has genuine talent. Collingwood has always struggled to develop ruckmen, he'd flourish at a side like Sydney. He'd do better at Adelaide than at Collingwood.

What kind of position would Adelaide be looking to strengthen?

With Jon Griffin on the move, it would seem strange for the crows to not want another ruck option. Having said that, Collingwood aren't blessed with an abundance of ruck options either.

Nonetheless, the types of "mids" Adelaide would request i.e. Wellingham/Beams type of player is simply out of the question.

Mids, no interest in Wood.
Personally I'm in favour of retaining Wood rather than trading in him Knights.

If your thread of J.Griff moving West is right I think you might look to add a replacement ruckman. You don't really in my view have a no.1 quality ruckman and Wood would be just that. You have a whole group of undersized ruckman all 200cm or less and Wood being 204cm, 104kg would probably be your starting rucking in 2011 if indeed you did add him. The only reason he hasn't been playing for the pies is because we added Jolly and Wood isn't suited to playing the no.2 role.

With Fraser's future uncertain we only have Wood as our only backup for Jolly so I would rather retain him than add the injury prone Knights who is quality, but he is no good if he can't get on the field..

I'd assume with your draft picks you could add sufficient mids anyway so I don't think even if you did trade Knights for a ruckman that it would be a mistake.

If a deal did happen this might be the most likely, but I don't think it is all that likely unless both stated that they wanted to move back to their home states.

Yeh, fair enough.

It'd be hard to do a deal with mids for Knights. We either have untouchables (Swan, Pendlebury), young guys who are too good to trade (Sidebottom, Beams), or young guys who have no market value yet (McCarthy etc), or duds (Barham, Cook).

The closest thing would be Blair, who is well under what would be required for Knights.

Essentially Collingwood will not want to give anything decent up for Knights and therefore are very unlikely to get him.

Cameron Wood is a spud and Collingwood supporters suggesting that he is playing VFL behind Darren Jolly are quite funny. Just because Jolly is a decent ruckman and the number 1 does not make Wood playing VFL any better. Josh Fraser would be ahead of Wood and he is well past it with a pea heart (see Melbourne game). Seriously people throwing up spuds and a pick for a decent player.

Knights may not be an A grader but he is only 23 and when he is fully fit and gets consecutive games he is A grade, so I think his body is the only thing holding him back. Wood + pick 25 is laughable. Pies would need to offer something like Steele Sidebottom. Quality means you have to give quality unfortunatley.

If we could get some kind of confirmation that Knights does not have a chronic injury issue, then I would trade Sidebottom for him. Mainly as I do not rate Sidebottom as highly as most Collingwood supporters most of whom wouldn't give Sidebottom up in a million years. But I would for Knights had he not had the issues with injuries. He's more talented and damaging at full fitness.

But given he does have the injury concerns, I probably would not. If it's a mid they want, I would give them our first and someone like McCarthy, a similarly injury prone player with some talent (Not as much obviously). Or Blair for that matter if they like what they've seen.

Wellingham sparks a personal interest.

What drugs are you on? Sidebottom for Knights?

He'd be in the category with Beams and Sidebottom right now.

I rate Wellingham and Knights about equal on talent, but Wellingham has been relitively injury free, whereas Knights has had injury problems

the pies would be silly to trade Wood IMO... Jolly isn't a spring chicken, the end can come pretty quickly for ruckman, he might not have that much good footy left in him...

Fraser looks like he will go, if the pies trade wood, and fraser, and Jolly's form drops away, they aren't left with much...

Wood would be good for Adelaide and he is not a spud. I am not saying it has to be a deal for Knights but i think now with Griffin about to leave I think Wood will get a game there.

I really have to laugh at this train of thought that the only reason Wood isn't playing is, because he can't play as the number 2 rukman LOL!

Just admit the kid is a spud and isn't a number or number 2 ruckman.

David Hale is a spud and he has more ruck talent in his left toenail than Wood.

Knights isn't going anywhere. Said on radio today that a 2 year deal is about to be finalised in the near future. Players that often aren't decided and are strongly considering a move would usually sprout out the line 'I'd like to remain a one club player etc etc', all the usual crap, but Knights was very much to the point that he doesn't want to leave here. I've always thought he'd be staying, after stating midway through the year his desire for the captaincy at the club sometime in the future.

Most of the trades here are laughable. Cam Wood and Sean Rusling? Yeah, ok. West Adelaide is the real winner there.
