how good is this kid, have never seen him play.........but the raves just keep coming and coming from respectable footy watchers i talk to.

statements like top 10 in best and fairest, is this stretching things a little?

like i said, have never seen him play so i'm in the dark here.

appreciate any comments on this young onballer? falnker? wingman? :D

Onballer who plays in the SANFL for Woodville-West Torrens. Can also play as a crumbing forward. Around 184cm and 83kg.

His best attribute would be his ability to read the ball off packs and pick the ball up at full pace. So many times, whenever their is an aerial contest, Chris will run to the contest and find the ball. He reads the play so well in this regard, which is certainly helped by a big motor.

This innate ability also makes him handy around goals - rarely a game will go by without him snagging a goal or two. One thing he needs to work on is his goal-kicking. Improving his finishing could make him an even more dangerous player, seeing as he is so good at crumbing.

Skills-wise, he's pretty sufficient. He's prone to a few floaters, but most of the time his kicks are generally well-delivered. Any errors he does manufacture should not be directed towards the faulty kicking style, as his style is fine, it's just his ball drop that could use work. Also not too bad on his opposite side, except for handballs. His opposite-handball is somewhat robotic and could use work.

His marking is also a solid feature of his game. Rarely drops a mark, and even in contested situations he can hold his own most of the time.

Athletically, he is more than adequete. Doesn't have blistering speed, but is not slow either. Usually retrieves the ball at near-full pace, so he doesn't really accelerate from packs - rather, he's already away before his opponents can start sprinting to chase him. He's no Chris Judd but there should be no fear about his speed. Aerobically he's very good, which as mentioned before, allows him to keep making those contests and racking up the ball.

That's probably his best asset - racking up possessions is something he does nearly every week. He's incredibly consistent, and for WWT seniors this year, he rarely dipped below 20 possessions a game, even reaching 42 in one game. This is why we are so excited about Chris - he's a midfielder who's actually being a key player in SANFL games - in his first year and with no pre-season!

I was hoping we would draft this kid and my wish came true. I can say on behalf of all of us here, we are looking very forward to seeing Chris progress further this year. :)

great report mate.

cheers

Pretty good summary Bockchoy67.

His ability to find the footy is second to none. He is a genuine ball magnet.

He averaged around 25ppg in TAC Cup. He averaged roughly the same number in SANFL reserves and then on to have average similar number in SANFL seniors. He just knows how to get the footy and where to run to get it. Reads the ball off hands as well as anyone, making him a great crumber. However he doesn't always nail his opportunities. He will either kick it or miss badly (often OOB).

His flaws can be worked on and improved. Tidy up his ball drop and get him to work a bit more on his pace off the mark and his non-preferred handball.

He has a pretty long career ahead of him IMHO.

From who?

He will be a gun. That word is commonly missused, but he def has the attributes. The way he just goes out there and gets the ball, leather poisoning. I swear he will break a possession's in a game record one day. Or something like that, just reads the play so well.

Will play many games this year, and should get a good run thru the middle in the NAB cup.
