I've read your post over and over and I still can't work out what it's supposed to mean in relation to what I was discussing?

Too injury prone & unlikely to ever reach previous heights. Pass.

Use the ignore function then if it bothers you that much. No skin off my nose.

I'm just trying to figure out if you can contribute to any discussion without a negative connotation. If you don't want Knights, then who do you think we could get to bolster our goal scoring options? What do you want to see?

Well the difference between negativity & realism are all in the eye of the beholder and whilst I may not be a blind cheersquad booster like some,(not saying you) I think you'll find I do occasionally give credit where it's due, even if I do add the odd caveat to my praise.
Just because I don't get carried away with what's ultimately yet another year of no finals and don't have a "locked and loaded" attitude that ignores all the hard work that still needs to be done and flaws that still exist and have differing views to how they can be addressed doesn't mean I'm not quietly confident we're on the right path.

I expect finals nearly every year, even last year I did -and we actually weren't as far away last year as many think either. Another stupid Gold Coast loss and even stupider loss to Port and the ridiculous McGuane rushed behind decision v St.Kilda cost us an 11 win season -add to that the narrow loss to North in the final round thanks mainly to Jackson's stupidity and we would've had 12 wins and taken Essendon's position in the 8. Sound familiar?

Anyway to answer your question - I'm sure we could find someone who doesn't share the same injury concerns, maybe not the quality of Knights exposed form, but that's moot as I doubt he'll ever fully recapture that form. players with with poor injury records are too much of a risk IMO and Knights ain't a kid with time on his side like Griffiths is. Anyway as I've previously stated, personally I prefer we just kept adding quality mids that can play all over the park and give you quality all over the ground than specifically targetting small & medium forwards.

yeah i agree. just bc a player is a free agent he still has to CHOOSE a club. the better the deal offered the more likely he will select that club.

Exactly, we still have to put forward a good offer, I have faith in the club not to put forward any extravagant amount to a couple lesser lights but just enough to persuade them to make the move. And heck, who wouldn't want to come play for our great club, we are clearly on the up, top notch facilities , building a very good culture, and best of all, one of the largest supporter bases going around.

Thanks mate, good post.

You mentioned why would they leave for same money, i explained its free agency, we could offer longer terms they would otherwise expect from incumbent clubs....hope that explains it

Fair enough, but we'd also need to add on some extra $ to make it worth there while, let's not forget we are targeting interstate players and they will need somewhere to sleep etc.

They can stay with Dusty, byo alarm clock though

It's a swing. But a free one in terms of acquisition cost.
Akin to a PSD pick of a mature age, and our expectations should be about the same

Exactly, gives us the chance to delist one more mature dud without having to throw a kid in who isn't ready, plus he might turn out better than expected

Not sure if this is the right place, but read a little bit in the west australian on sunday, saying that both us and Melbourne are interested in him.

I know we had been interested a few years ago, but could be a handy pick up as a forward, seems to play a similiar role to Titch Edwards... I think if we got him, Nahas would be out the door?

King, Edwards and Knights as small forwards with Riewoldt, Vickery and our resting midfielder hanging about... sounds not too bad.

Anyone else heard anything about this

Why are so many down on Nahas, he has kicked 33 goals this year and he is a big reason that we can keep it in our forward line with his strong tackling?

Dont believe people are really down on Nahas,But if the rumours are true about $400k py for him there must be a good draft pick attached to it and people just believe we would be selling high.

Pick under 30- I'll take that

Nahas is good but he does get knocked off the ball to easily because of his light frame. Also shanks alot of kicks because he can't kick on his left but I do like his game has speed a bit of x-factor. I'd be happy to keep him but I would take an early second rounder in a heartbeat if he wants to leave.

Because we are almost at the start of silly season where every player is expendable and every player from a rival club is much much better and where any strategy to achieve a draft pick gets double points! Add in this guy from somewhere else who has obviously flown under the radar  , get rid of that dud off our list, (feel free to insert almost any name except Cotchin) , then draft a 17-18 yo to fill the void. Pretty easy if you say it fast enough! My fav time of the year. One more week before the speculators run rife and its hibernation into the Corner Hotel for me until our obviously inept recruiters get it done.:( Who says I'm a geriatric cynic hahaa

Knights is still deciding between the Richmond and Melbourne offer but those are the only 2 considerations with niether being the front runner. But its a 50/50 still.

I'd love him at tigerland at the right price - 200-250k for 2 years would be about right.

Why on earth would he even think of picking Melbourne before us. We have so much going for us unlike Melbourne do.
