I would be sad to see Murphy go, I really liked watching him play. If pavlich decides to leave at the end of the year I think we would want to hold on to him, I think he would be a better option than campbell.

Not a chance! He wouldn't be in our top 10! Add Hayden, Dodd, Macca, Taz, and Sol to your list. Jonno, and Mundy would be close too.

Scham, normally I agree with you but that is crap. Des has been a lot better than Macca and Mundy, slightly better than Sol and Dodd, and similar to Taz. Hayden has been better. Johnno hasn't played enough games and even still, hasn't been at Headland's level imo.

What about if we offered this to Richmond??

Murphy, 1st & 2nd Round Pick.
Coughlan and 1st Round Pick (presumably #1).

Edit: i think we might want a 3rd roudner aswell because of the question mark over Coughlan.

Why would Richmond do that trade? Murphy plus pick 8 probably wouldn't get us pick one, it certainly wouldn't get us pick 1 plus Coughlan.

I'd trade Mundy and pick 8 to Carlton for pick 2. We have loads of half backs and I reckon the blues would maybe be keen on that deal.

I'm confident that Murphy will be better than Campbell. I'd like to see us play Campbell for the rest of the year, hoping that he plays well, then trade him for a first round pick. Too often in the past have we traded players when their value is low.

Leave Murphy out of any possible trades he is a future AA and if we trade him he will join the long list of superstars we have lost.

He can be an= triple AA with another club for all I care, but we need a champion team not a team of champions, and to construct a champion team we need some more midfield cogs.

I reckon Murphy + 1st round pick might get us pick 4 or 5 - That would be enough to have a shot at guys like Masten or Cotchin, given that at least one of the Top 2 will be Kreuzer.

Why concentrate on only 1 or 2 specific kids in the draft. Plenty of excellent ball winners to be picked up around pick 10.

The only way we will get our hands on those picks is if a big name player like Pavlich decides to up and leave.

Why the **** would we trade pick 8 and Murphy for pick 4 or 5? That's practically giving him away. We'd be better off offering Mundy and Murphy for pick 4, retain pick 8, and get 2 young midfielders.

A lot can happen between now and the end of the year, Selwood was tipped to go number one early last year then fell to pick seven.

See I don't agree with this...two really good young players who have already shown they can cut the mustard, albeit a little intermittently, for 2 picks which can amount to nothing, eg Graham Polak, Fiora.
Why don't we just clean out the dead wood and keep the picks we have...unless Danial Kerr sees Woosha in high heels and needs to leave in a hurry...

I wasn't suggesting that trade, just pointing out that it's a better option. Mundy is dead wood in my opinion though. Way too soft, I'd rather roll the dice on a midfielder taken in the top ten of the draft than a halfback flanker who doesn't win contested possessions.

Masten is exactly what you need.

He's a ball magnet, has plenty of pace and knows where the goals are.

I would be going all out to secure him.

I was just talking to a freind from melbourne who says there is rumours over there that carlton are very keen on masten, and they think he's a good chance to go at number one or two.can't confirm any of this of course

Carlton are going all out for one of the following:

  • Kruezer
  • Cotchin
  • Masten
  • Veszpremi
But then again, most clubs would be the same.
