...yeah....nah.

Adding ink does not equal instant beefcake. More like a vanilla slice.

Thanks for the insight, I've obviously got the wrong idea. I'm going to have to get a haircut, shave my mo, and have my wicked tat removed. I'll also need to go rub some gravel on my teeth as I've had my pegs bleached to extreme whiteness just like Masten.

Sorry to jump on your board guys.
I was at the game last night and couldn't get over the amount of supporters giving Chris $hit, calling out "tradebait", "Fletcher Two" when he picked up the ball or groaning if he came out with the pill instead of the all damaging Priddis.
I really don't get it, the kid came to you in 08 with OP and clearly had no depth in his kick or pace in his run.
He could barely walk at the end of the season before surgery.
He showed plenty in the 10 odd games he strung together in 09, that Adelaide game with 38 touches before doing his knee/hip?? in the North Melbourne game and I felt he was BOG during the Derby McPhee took out his knee before half time in 10 and I'm a dockers supporter!
I watched him in the 06/07 U18's and I'd have swapped him for Palmer the day after Rhys won the rising star, I just don't understand the hate you guys have for him? Is it because he didn't have an immediate impact? doubled by the couple of bad years?
And I can't work out how as supporters you'd stoop to name calling at the game and on this board for one of your players?
You know this 'spud', 'knob', 'tradebait' has as many carear goals as Priddis! and that's coming off as a sub, injured, bad years and with a handful of games compared to Matt!!!
I know Matt's not Chris Judd, but I really don't get, after an amazing year from you guys and 3 out of 4 stellar games by Chris (I'm counting his sub performances) why your supporters would feel compelled to put $hit on the guy.
I've met Chris on a several occasions and as an opposition supporter can state, he's a really genuine, down to earth guy, actually got to say so is Shuey and Scott Selwood, you guys really scored....
Hey but if your still not sure, we can offer Johnson as a straight swap!

Jealously - simple as that.

Lets face it, we'd all swap our lives in a heartbeat to be in Chris's shoes, not necessarily be Chris Masten himself, but have his life…

Smoking hot girlfriend, talented footballer, playing for the biggest sporting club in the state, getting invited to VIP parties, being the talk of the town - who wouldn't want that?

The difference between our opinions of him and say a Shuey for example is whilst we see Shuey as thoroughly deserving of everything that comes his way (on account of hard work, perservierence and supreme football ability) the same cannot be said for Masten...

I'm happy to sit back and let Masten prove his haters wrong. I've never been extremely pro-Masten but due to all of the crazy hate he gets (that I never understood) I'm really keen for him to do well just to shut these guys up, and I think he will.

Will probably never be our best mid at any point but will be an important player.

agree..its gutless, cowardly and ignorant..its the worst side of football..complete lack of understanding of sportsmanship etc..these morons are emotionally and psychologically invested in a brand name, and they think they have the right to abuse players as they see fit,as though they own them..you only have to look at any cheer squad or when the camera pans around the crowd to see some of the wierdo, psycho, losers that the game attracts..theres a lot of people who dont appear to have a life other than their club brand..the same with most codes.

re masten ive had my doubts, and said so in the past, as with swift, but dont hate the guy (i dont know him to hate him!?)..while his past performances seemed underwhelming, with the time+money invested in a player youd rather see them step up,than fail or be traded etc..and now that masten appears to have hit some form, its a good example of how things can swing around, and the patience required (eg-woosha)..makes me more open to swifts progress now..and its just exciting to see him gel in the squad, and add that depth to the team..and who gives a toss about his mo,haircut or tatts - thats his business.live and let live...onya masten! :thumbsu:

Those bagging Masten are likely the same muppets, or the same type of nuffy supporter, who constantly bagged Gherig. These simple folk have NFI!
God, listen to all those defending him. What are you basing everything you guys are saying on, two games? I bet you had the shits with him just like me (happy to admit it) less than 2 months ago. Yes hes had couple of good games in a row but it doesn't mean he'll produce them in the finals or go on with it next year. At the moment he needs to get more runs on the board before you can make comments such as the one I've just quoted.

Also I will disclaim this by saying I love seeing whipping boys become good players. I was one of the first on board Nicoski's rise the last couple of seasons and gave Ebert a bath but am happy to see him improve. Unlike some on here, when I make a misjudgement about a player I am happy to retract, so long as I see enough evidence of change.

Some people are hard to please.

He's got his body right, gets the opportunity and delivers two weeks in a row. Yes he needs to back it up and do it more regularly, no one will argue with that, but he has shown that he is very much a AFL standard quality midfielder.

Many on here have argued he's a crab, not best 22 etc, but given the last couple of weeks (and others) it's hard to argue that he can't play at this level.

No Masto hate in my block last night. (A lot of EEEAAAAAAGLESSSS chants and mexican waves tho ;))

Unfortunately the same can't be said for mine.
Constant 'Masten has done nothing', 'Masten has to be traded', 'Masten is useless' calls the night throughout. Utter morons.

The only issue I had with him is that unlike others (swift etc) he was never made to work his way back into the side. A couple of games in the WAFL and straight back in. This time they have taken a different tack (due to our great form) and it has worked.

His use of handball yesterday was outstanding and he is showing what a great inside player he is. Well done and he should have confirmed his spot when Kerr comes back. It was great at the end of the game seeing Ebo,Masten,Shuey and Nic in the centre. Mind you Priddis showed in the last how great a clearance player he is (with the help of Nic of course).

Could have a seriously good midfield if this guy can come through along with Shuey,Scooter and Gaff.

Add Swift add we're set. Really hope Sheppard comes along as well.

Masten Selwood Swift can do the grunt work winning the contested ball to feed Shuey Gaff and Sheppard who can use their pace and Elite kicks to find Kennedy Lecras and Darling..good times ahead.

Masten is the difference in WCE being a good side and a very good side.
IMO he is the missing link in the midfield.
Going into a finals campaign with Masten fireing is very pleasing indeed.

Agree. Another offensive player that our midfield lacked is dynamic at stoppages and his tank and link up work is very very good. In the Marc Murphy mould with a little of Dane Swan.

Like how the banner this week had a litte "Congrats Masto on 51 games" sticky taped down the bottom
