To those suggesting Mayne be tried in defence - that's been done before, with some success, when Freo have lost backmen to injury (Johnson, McPharlin, A Pearce). He's temperamentally suited to defending, as well. Not unlike Goldsack - but then again, you've already converted both Goldsack himself and Howe into medium defenders.

Cant see him leaving, completely makes no sense

The club will look to trade him, l mean it is obvious if we get a suitor, then he is gone. Eventhough Pendles sounds like he wants him there next year, the final decision comes down to the list manager and the coach.
Listening to Bucks comments about Mayne on SEN, if l was Mayney, l would have very little confidence that the coach actually wants me.

No doubt.
But Maynes father blew the whistle on our incompetent coach.
The recruitment process came down to "if Bux wants you your in".
Then he gets a phone call " your in".
Hard to argue against that.

Buckley was not imcompetent at all. Buckley was blindsided by Allan , who had already verbally made an agreement with Mayne. Bucks, did interview Mayne, with an outline of what the team was looking for, and Mayne "could"fit in.
Bucks was a fan of Maynes about 2 years ago, but not recently. If Mayne was to be signed, Bucks wanted only the 1 year, but Allan had offered more than 2 years to get him out of Freo. Bucks could not of imagined signing Mayne to a 4 yr deal.
Bucks is very honest when he talks about Mayne, he was completely blindsided by this deal. Bucks could be very frank when he talks about Mayne, and say something like "l was a fan of his performanes 2-3 years ago, recently he has been average. I was asked about Mayne and about what he could bring, we had a meeting, l was considering signing him for the 1 year, with a possibility of 2, depending on performance. Before l knew it we had a verbal agreement of 4 years and Mayne was leaving Freo. We will look to trade him at seasons end, because as long as lm coach, he dosent fit into my plans....
Thats the true story we want to hear, but Bucks is to diplomatic.

Yes it is. What you said doesn't explain who negotiated the contract and whether it was approved by the club or by Buckley. Maynes father is not aware of the goings on. Hes only aware of what hes been told.

Coaches don't negotiate contracts. Maybe bucks was keen on Mayne as a player who could fill a need. He hasn't denied that. But not on those financial terms. That was all gubby Allen who dealt unauthorised, behind the clubs back.

They'll see if there are any tyre kickers but only half heartedly because realstically there will be none. Our best option is to put 2017 behind us as a forgettable year for Mayne, relaunch in 2018 and see if can do enough to warrant seeing the rest of his contract out.

Mayne to kick 35-40 goals next year
almost spat my water all over my laptop

If Mayne makes the squad, he'll again play VFL for most of the season

Put him on the Blair contract...

Lack of performance based - where the worse you play the more games you get and the years added to your Contract.

Also interchangeably known as the Buckley contract.

Mayne is better then Blair, Pies ball movement is putrid, I'm surprised any Collingwood forward can get a kick.

Richmond forward line is a perfect example, Riewoldt and then you have a small mobile forward line which WORKS because they get the ball in quick.

Any forward line will look better if the ball comes in quickly and predictably.

If we are stuck with Mayne, after the club has exhausted all avenues to trade or negotiate his services terminated, then l want the club to enforce some rules on Mayne.
The first rule, cut off that f****n hair. Tightly permed blonde hair, WTF. He looks like that crazy beatch from the movie Fatal Attraction. Get rid of the hair man, and you may actually look the part of an AFL footballer. Now he looks like he should be lining up alongside Mo Hope in our AFLW team.
This is one of my last posts before l head off to the US and Canada for a few weeks RR. So when l am back l want to see, preferably that Mayne has decided to leave and explore his options elsewhere....if not, that his head is shaved and ready for business!!
