VFL reporter Paul Amy posted on Twitter: ""Whispers around of a change of coach at a leading VFL club. Has the Bell tolled for the incumbent? Will a New man step in? We'll see." for the benefit of those who can't see Twitter embeds.

Hawthorn Football Club is pleased to announce Chris Newman will take over as senior coach of Box Hill Hawks.
<>
Former Box Hill Coach Marco Bello will move into the role of Head of Development Academy at Hawthorn.
<>
Rob McCartney, previous Head of the Development Academy, will return to teaching as principal of Shepparton primary school where he had previously spent eight years.

Congratulations to Chris Newman on the appointment. The club must be pleased with his work given he only became a coach in 2015. Good luck to Marco in the new role, as well.

Not surprised there is a change as three years is about standard for BOx Hill coaches before they are moved into a role at Hawthorn, don't see it as indictment on Bellos coaching. Well done to Chris Newman on getting the job :thumbsu:

HAWTHORN has long been a production line for senior AFL coaches and it might soon have another ready to step up.

A who’s who of Alastair Clarkson’s assistants including Damien Hardwick, Luke Beveridge, Adam Simpson, Leon Cameron and Brendan Bolton have gone on to coach rival teams and the Hawks have another budding mentor at Waverley Park in former Richmond skipper Chris Newman.
