Hawthorn Football Club is pleased to announce Chris Newman will take over as senior coach of Box Hill Hawks.

Not surprised there is a change as three years is about standard for BOx Hill coaches before they are moved into a role at Hawthorn, don't see it as indictment on Bellos coaching. Well done to Chris Newman on getting the job

He was development coach at Hawthorn and as such spent a lot of time with the younger players. He was in attendence at every Box Hill match that I was at.

HAWTHORN has long been a production line for senior AFL coaches and it might soon have another ready to step up.

A who’s who of Alastair Clarkson’s assistants including Damien Hardwick, Luke Beveridge, Adam Simpson, Leon Cameron and Brendan Bolton have gone on to coach rival teams and the Hawks have another budding mentor at Waverley Park in former Richmond skipper Chris Newman.
