Te last time they seriously challenged for flag was 2000, Thats when alot of players where already at the club before Cameron arrived, and the bombers took care of that, since then they have slowly deteriorated wouldn't you agree?

I have read it many times that JON was Francis' pick.

They shared decisions that year but Greg would have picked Hurn off memory if he had it his way. Not 100% sure if that part is right though.

Im reading a book atm with a section on his time at Hawks, and the way he drafted for them, although not always good picks, is ingenious, yet simple (enough). Hopefully he and Craig Cameron will finish off the job Miller and co. started, and get us the premisership!!!

I dont know alot about this fella but lets not forget it aint a recruiting ascout we;re after, it's a ****en big job, manage the coaching staff, player development, recruiting...we've got FJ and now CC that will do well in that function...pelchen would be stepping right up to do thids as well ...He may well be the man, but dont simply judge him on drafting alone

Yeah, I realise that, but he drew up the plan for what Hawks should draft, and rated their list and started from there...not all drafting, but a fair bit.

Btw...is it just me, or is Craig Cameron partly responsible for Melbourne's current problems...?

6th, 7th, 8th & 5th in '02, '04, '05 & '06 but lets just forget that for the sake of your argument! I'll take a recruiter who's continually getting you in the 8!
In those same years Geelong finished - 9th, 4th, 5th and 10th.
But stuff it, lets get Doug Vickers back!!!!!

You really need to be in the top 4 to have a proper tilt at a flag. 5th-8th just keeps the supporters happy.

We wouldn't even understand if this statement is correct having never finished there in 30 years.

I only know what it's like to finish bottom 8 (usually 9th) and distant memories of a false top 4 finish or two.
