Slightly off topic, but could anyone enlighten me as to why Chirs Rogers left WA in the first place?

I ask as it stated that when h brought up his ton not one of the WA players clapped or congratulated him which obviously points to a lot of bad blood for some reason.

Anyone in the know?

Basically, the WA hierarchy told him that he wasn't dynamic enough to play ODD and that he'd only be a Shield player for the rest of his career.

Chris rightfully felt that was disrespectful (given his loyal service and great career) and told them he was leaving.

As i said in the match thread, i hope the WA selectors watched this apparent 'slow batsman' smash their bowlers around for a hundred at almost a run a ball (whilst no one else in the match has been able to get their strike rate above 50).

The reason he stated was because he didn't get picked in the One Day side for WA.
but (apparantly) the real real reason was because he and Tom Moody had a falling out

and I agree with the posters above. I would prefer Rogers opening ahead of Marsh. Marsh is a makeshift opener IMO, I see him as Australias future #3/4

If Hayden retires I would go Rogers. We need someone that won't gift their wicket away and Rogers is that man. Marsh still needs more time in FC.

Hah! That is quality. Now I am doubly happy he not only made runs but also as a good clip too. Interesting info that thanks. :thumbsu:

Jaques is next line in depeding on fitness, Rogers is second in line if Jaques is not fit. I perosnally think Hughes is in front of Marsh after that, he has done more with the bat opening in 4 day cricket than marsh has.

Rodgers is 86no at the moment. The Vics are needing another 134 to win the game outright. So has to be next in line i would say.He is batting so good at the moment he would be putting pressure on Hayden.

one of the big problems with the vics over hte past 4 or 5 years is that basically it was 4 out all out.

the openers were solid without being good, and Hodge, Hussey and to a lesser degree McDonald and White were the only 4 who had any real talent.

Jewell stepping up and Rogers have add some real runs to the line up and Wade is showing a bit of bull in the middle.

I think the only real weakness in the Victorian pool is we have a lot of awesome seamers but basically no real spinners in the absence of McGain, stares at White.

rogers is a good player, so is katich but from what i have seen, jacques and marsh should be aussie openers when haydos retires, haydos shud be given his retirement on his own terms wish.

Sour much? Go have a cry. Was explained in this thread why Rogers was not happy and fair enough to.
