Coach Chris Scott - coach of the year?

It's amazing that Chris Scott has never won coach of the year award especially given how successful he's been over his coaching career.

His team was written off at the start of the year and expected to miss the top 8, but Scott has reinvented the wheel this year with his coaching and anyone who has watched us this year and watched us last year can see there is a huge difference in the way we play.

For these reasons, he has to be the frontrunner for the coach of the year award right now.

Clarkson's a September magician though not a year magician. Over the course of a season itself he's never once produced a dominant display. I actually do remember a 3 week stint of intense form when they destroyed Carlton. But never saw that over a long period or even during finals.

Not how it works. WC were predicted bottom 4 and some said the spoon, they won the flag and Simpson didn't get it. Clarkson didn't win one through all his years. It's more likely going to Lyon for getting Freo into contention.

I think you'll find that the coach of the year award will go to someone that took his team from outside of the 8..... to playing finals this current year. So look for Chris Fagan to win COTY in 2019 if Brisbane makes the final 8.

As Xtreme said, if the ladder stays roughly as it is, Fagan will win it without a doubt. Beveridge won it due to taking the Dogs from 14th in 2014 to 6th in 2015, so if Fagan takes the Lions from last season into the finals this season he will win it.

Scott has done brilliantly thus far though and would have to be second only to Fagan atm.

He's built the team he's coaching now. Only Duncan, Hawkins, Selwood and Taylor were already at the club when he got there.

Success at most other clubs is based on winning finals/flags not just having great home and away seasons, probably why Hardwick won coty in 2017 but not 2018 where overall we did a lot better just not when it counted.
