😂 so the AFL essentially admit that Neale instigated the quarter time discussion with Scott, but that's ok because Neale is a player or in this case "a child" while Scott as the senior coach is deemed "an adult" and not allowed to defend his players

Seems the AFL is also pissy because they haven't previously sanctioned Scott when he's stood up for his players during breaks in the game

a big part to remember is the AFL has an obsession with growth and money in Queensland, and Lachie neale is currently their poster boy for QLD. The idea of labeling him negatively is a no go area for the socialist AFL.

Scotty on Footy Classified last night

So the clear takeaway is that the Cats are still finding their feet in terms of a game plan and style. We can put that down in part to the absence of an effective preseason comp, but I sense Scott isn’t fazed by the slow start.

The other takeaway is that Eddie is a bitter, twisted fool

My biggest takeaway was that Scott hates his job!

I thought Scotty was good on Footy Classified. Interesting to hear him say being a senior coach isn't a good job due to the stress that comes with it.
He must colour his hair then....People with black hair usually go grey with stress. Scott is looking younger!

He has plenty to work with. Geelong has been in the news for the wrong reasons. From Todays Herald Sun

You'd be forgiven for forgetting we've won two on the trot now. Gotta get the clicks I guess though, and for one reason or another we're on everyone's mind.

We're becoming a really popular/unpopular club.
As a kid I could only dream of so much negativity coming our way.
That was only for the big clubs.
Not being sarcastic either. We're really lucky like that now.
We actually sell papers! Without Gaz snr. Not just the addy but the big ones. Can you believe that?

The funniest part is we haven't won a flag since 2011. I really don't understand the angst, but I guess everyone needs a villain.

Fronting up to a panel discussion show with the annoying trio of Kane Cornes, Caro and Hutchy would be a tough gig after an intense afternoon in the coach's box. Well done to Chris Scott for getting through it.

I think a major part of that is the perception of Scott as a whinger, and Dangerfield's profile and finals performances. No one was too fussed about us until Scott starting complaining about playing finals at the MCG (inexplicably). That's been a pretty big part of it I would say.

Why inexplicably? My personal view is that any team who earns a home final should have the right to play it at the AFL venue of their choice. If that means thousands miss out on tickets because a game is at GHMBA/Marvel instead of the MCG, so be it.

Because we never raised a murmur about it from 2007-2011.
Because in the three premiership years we played no less than 9 finals at the MCG and won them all.
Particularly because the year before in 2016 we also earned a home final - and played it at the MCG where our opponent (Hawthorn) played their home games. Because we won, it wasn't an issue. It only became a problem the year after.

That's why inexplicably.

(a) The 2007-2011 team could win anywhere, but
(b) In that era you didn't have GWS hosting a final at its boutique stadium

Who says we didn't raise questions about it or talk to the AFL each year about playings finals at KP during that time

Could it not be the case that it just wasn't in the media rather than not being raised?

c) Nor the Suns told they'd be allowed to host one at their stadium should they ever play finals

If you can show me where anyone from the club - coach, player, official - mentioned it as an issue in that era I'd be most grateful.

They seemed inordinately focused on just winning them no matter what.

I wasn't privy to all private discussions between those at the club and the AFL, so can't tell you how many times that question may have been asked of the AFL

But it seems pretty clear from the club that this isn't a new issue and it's one they have long pushed for, just that now the media is getting involved also

Oval. Goalposts. That's all you need.

See Hawthorn 2015. Dogs 2016. Richmond 2019. Et cetera.
Agree, but do you not think it was reasonable for GFC to ask the question in light of the AFL’s hypocrisy?

you dont think it might also have something to do with the stadium renovation and facility improvement that was not as afar advanced in 07-11 as it was later on?

Up till then, i agree... it was the G for us and there really wasnt an option.

now and more recently id say there is a viable option
