Any ground not even close to 100K capacity for a GF? It'll never ******* happen.

Her reasoning is as coherent as the average BigFooty post.Cats' case for Kardinia Park final doesn't stack up
Geelong continue to push for a final on their home ground, but supporters' rights are more important.www.watoday.com.au
Caro on the Geelong finals argument with some tie-in to the MCG debate.
I have to say I agree completely. And it's nice she's acknowledged the handicap for non-Victorian teams.
Their own fans would be missing out though, they have 64,000 members and we would get a certain allocation of tickets so even less of their Geelong members would get in than usual. (Assuming it was us in the game against them)Never been a fan of the locking fans out argument. If you earn the right to a home final, you should earn the right to play it at your home ground. If opposition fans miss out, tough tiddies. I'd have no problem with finals ticketing being split like a normal home and away game.
Add that to the fact that a supposedly national sport leveraged a whole bunch of upgrades to benefit victorian supporters only out of signing billions of dollars in revenue to victoria.....Watching Talking Footy last night and BT is genuinely deranged with some of his views, especially in regards to where the Grand Final should be played and his reasoning for it being at the MCG.
Now I'm happy for the GF to be at the MCG currently, I think it makes sense and it is an amazing atmosphere and allows for maximum number of supporters to watch the game.
However, the signing of the MCG to host until 2057 is a joke and anyone who genuinely believes that's a good idea is a narrow-minded twat. Enter BT.
He says it's a good idea because this is the only ground to handle 100,000 people (which is fine), but doesn't see that over the next 40 years we could have another stadium in another state that could have the same capacity.
Also doesn't see that with the biggest sporting event locked away for 40 years it severely hampers the viability of other states to push for bigger capacity, given the govt and private investors know they won't be getting revenue from the AFL GF anytime soon.
BT ends his rant by saying, "it's the rules (that the GF be at the MCG until 2057) and I always follow the rules" whether tongue in cheek or not, it's a ridiculous notion to just fall down at the whim over the AFL overlords and tell everyone to follow the rules. If the rules are BS you call it out, you don't point to it and use it as a basis for your argument.
Anyway, it's very frustrating that people in the media think it's a good decision and don't look at how it MAY impact on the development of the game elsewhere.
Signing it until 2030 to guarantee the upgrades needed at the MCG while also looking to take the GF elsewhere in 10 years time seems like a far more viable option that should be have been taken.

If they charged double the ticket price it would still be cheaper than flyingThe game could be bid on by state governments to make up lost ticket sales.
Very true in regards to Geelong. However, you can't have it one way during the season and another for the finals. If Geelong want their home finals, they need to handback all the revenue they get by paying home game sgainst Collingwood and RIchmond at the G.AFL is nothing like a major sport. It is a great game but will always be a side show on the world stage. The administration are insular and lack any sense of vision. I laugh at the cash and ego grab in China.
The rules are driven by a PR agenda and the comp is a handicapped event played under socialist philosophies that are connter to any form of competition.
As a minimum it needs to move to a draw when each team play equal home and away games agianst all opposition. Next step would be to consider where the GF is played.
Geelong are not a Melbourne club and have every right to play finals at home. Just as GWS do in a much smaller venue - they and Sydney in the same city are not even forced to play in larger venues anymore. GWS play at the olympic precinct - you walk past the main stadium to get to there ground.

If they want to bake their cake, they will have to eat it too.
Thats fine with me. Lets talk games in tassi etc as well.Very true in regards to Geelong. However, you can't have it one way during the season and another for the finals.
