Not only will we have to wait and see, there's a good chance that even then we'll never, ever know how well it's worked, if at all. :D
I'm sure if it does or doesn't work it'll come out in some book or the media given the fact that it's a supposedly an original and revolutionary approach to coaching and that there'll be interest in it's functionality from both other clubs and the wider AFL community in general.

No doubt, but the opinions we get in the media are likely to be as simplistic as the media opinions we get on coaching generally.
It would be really interesting to know what Geelong's KPIs on the outcomes are, if any, and who designed them.

Yeah it would, the first and most important thing they'd have to find out though, given it seems to be at the core of Lloyds appointment, probably using player surveys is to see if the players feel the coaches communication with them has improved or is improving. You could probably find that out after a month to 6 weeks of pre-season even.

I doubt the impact would be that quick.
But you're right, that's probably the only way we'd ever find out.
But do you think a player would publicly say "nah communication hasn't improved"?

It was actually said by Dr Jacquie Louder - this lady - in one of her occasional gigs on the radio:

http://www.opsmc.com.au/psychologists/jacqui-louder.html

Your 2 original comments above 5 weeks ago in this thread correctly summarise what she said on SEN, and confirm what the club has said about his role, namely that In the newly created role, Lloyd will oversee the performance and development of coaches and the player development program.

He's not just another assistant, he's not Scott's superior or supervisor or nominated successor or hand-holder, he's not just another club psych ('glorified" or otherwise, though his experience in that job at other clubs will no doubt be invaluable in this completely new job), he's not some super-tactician.

He's the League's first-ever true Director of Coaching, appointed to coach the coaches and help them do their jobs and get their message across better, both as coaches generally, and in particular to younger players when implementing the player development program.

This innovation could end up being every bit as important as the old Leading Teams initiative.
So what you're telling me Freddie is that he's not here merely to replace Scotty. Mind blown!

They wouldn't have to say it publicly you could set up an anonymous online survey where the players could answer a few basic questions about the coaches communication skills. I'm not saying it would be detailed or anything especially that soon into pre-season but I think the players would definitely have had enough time with the coaches already to be able to make a judgement call on whether the coaches communication of their message/s is improving. At least it'd give an early indication of if this unique approach is working or not.

I don't think Freddie did say that, and even if he did it is still very much a possibility I mean Matty Lloyd was saying less than 6 months ago that his brother 'would love to be a senior coach.' Scott and the club in general are talking themselves up so much already for next year that any Scott failure could definitely result in his sacking.

I haven't heard anything excessive........and certainly no more so than every other club that talks itself up at this time every year to generate interest, belief and optimism amongst its supporters.

I think it's exactly what Freddie said. Read his post 5232.

Chris Scott won't be sacked at the end of 2016, Blighty.

With all due respect.
If I was running a 50 million dollar group there is ZERO chance of that happening.

I don't think that we will and I don't think that we have to either.

A pass mark for me is making the finals, and winning one.
Wow.

So we spend about 2 mil on new players, kick SJ to the curb, and winning one final is a pass?
Ok.

I'm out of here.

No I'm not looking for any way to sack him I'm just stating what is happening, both the club and Scotty have earmarked a successful season next year and if it doesn't eventuate I think most people on here would at the very least say Scotty would be under immense pressure to keep his job.

I think winning a final would be most peoples pass mark but I agree with you in the sense that we seem to be recruiting for a flag and nothing less.

They have earmarked what is a very subjective measurement.

winning a final is my expectation but regardless he will not be sacked in 2016. Scott will see out his contract at the GFC. Just seems "sacked" and "Scott" appear in nearly every post you make in this thread. Obsession is borderline ;)
