Blight is better liked and comes out a winner easily, so he has Scott on both counts.
I might be one of few here, but I actually really like Scott.
I respect his thoughtfulness towards media, his players, particularly the way he handles the tough decisions about retiring stars.
He thoroughly researches the latest overseas trends off season, as do Clarko, Brad Scott, and probably most coaches.
I like his passion for Geelong- he really has taken on the role full-time, lives in Geelong, and it's all about US when talks Geelong. You don't get the feeling this is a stepping stone to another post elsewhere.
I love his winning %- winning is more enjoyable than not, most times.

I was really happy we employed him ahead of Hinkley and Sando, and nothing has changed there.

I could not think of another coach that right now could lead us better than he does.

This is not some naive appreciation- to me, he really is a very capable coach who recognises his weaknesses, and his team's weaknesses, and can do things about it.

I liked Blighty too, never a dull moment.

Maybe I am easily pleased, as I also respected Ayres.

Having been able to meet our last coaches dating back to Goggin, albeit superficially in some cases, CS is right up there. Probably number 1 in my estimations.

I didn't 'hate' our whole season, I just knew it was a waste, as every season will be until Scott goes. You must understand all we are doing under Scott is winning enough to do nothing much but keep him in the job, and not planning for or executing any plan for our next flag in the process.

So, you are writing off next year?

Egg on your face if we win the flag (and I think, if everything falls right, we are a good chance).

Maybe best you follow another team until we get rid of Scott. Why keep following Geelong if you think we have no hope?

Besides, are you of the mindset that changing the coach will instantly solve all of our problems onfield? What about the players' responsibilities to perform as well? You never mention that.

But who cares about the Blight era he's gone and that era is done, Scott is still at the GFC feeding our club and its supporters false hope while he slowly destroys the team and club.
Good - so you can stop referring to it and him. And to answer who cares about it - you do. All the time.

Do you seriously believe that?

By any objective measure, Blight's finals record is superior to Scott's.

Scott is a one-hit wonder with a team he inherited full of champion, already-premiership players in a quality club environment. Since then he's been unable to make a GF from three additional top 4 finishes.
Everyone outside Geelong tipped the Cats to miss the 8 in 2011. Smashed by the Pies in the 2010 PF, described by many as too old and too slow, and then loses the best player in the competition. So convinced was I that we wouldn't figure prominently in September 2011 I booked a holiday in Europe........you have to give Scott some credit. Hell, he's blamed for everything wrong with the club, why not give credit where it's due?

As I have said many times, and it applies to many things in life, often the chase is better than the catch and once you've hit the top, the slow decline is inexorable. At least our gallant coach has not accepted defeat and is proactive enough to keep us competitive, against the odds.
And, 70% of the 105 who have voted on this thread are not against CS remaining on as coach after 2017. Don't tell me they are all misguided sheep.
you dont get a prize for being competitive you get a prize for winning flags

there are a lot more followers than are leaders

not many are brave enough to join the dark side but it 2-3 years you'll all be questioning Scott

There is currently 5 Premiership coaches in the AFL, Scott is one of them, it might be time for time for him to move in a year or 2, but I will never be questioning Scott for his work to date.

We are about to find out if Clarkson is any good at it.
Clarkson's already proven he is, his first flag was 2008 and his last 2015 I think he's more than proven you can have sustained and continued success after any initial success as have Sydney 2005 then 2012.

Predicted 5-8th for us in 2016, even said best case scenario 4th if everything went right, until we'd finished our last match of the season we didn't even know if we'd finish in the 4 so it wasn't exactly an outrageous prediction.

Clarkson is heading into a post premiership era now, his 2008 flags core was the same as his 13 to 15.

And I ask again, how many flags has Longmire won compared to Scott?

Too true Daz,
whats interesting here is that he has the results to work backwards from.
So 2016 is finished and he can say for ever "see I told you so" the easy option.Went silent for long periods when we won games then quickly returned to his ubiquitous posting post losses.

So now "Well to be fair we didn't win a final, Hawthorn lost one" we didn't even win a final; funny I seem to recall going to a prelim. as the next game; I thought that only happened when you win in the first week?

The guy is chuffed cause he knows all the answers, mind you 90% of the time its post fact.
He even has the temerity to say Blight id respected more than Scott at Geelong and then when challenged on that he says"I can't find any quotes saying people respect Blight more than Scott because it's such a ludicrously specific subject" haha he brought it up and then says its ridiculous. It comes about due to his haste to post continually, you can never silence these deluded souls who think they are the elite thinkers of the game when in reality they say enough things often enough they are bound to get something right every now and then.

Yet we are the CS Fan Bois etc, but his opinion is considered and well thought out. Granted a few on here are equally boisterous in favour of Scott but the reality is most on here are I believe are pretty balanced in their views.

Sad thing is there is a small pocket who believe and agree with the shit the spews from his keyboard. Should go back to supporting Essendon.

Rubbish, posted just as much. At the half way mark I gave Scott credit and said we were doing well, also said I was wrong about my predictions numerous times! I did say however that it would come down to our finals performances which we all must admit, as the club has, were disappointing.
I'll tell you another disappointing thing and that was Scott saying our final v Hawthorn was 'as good as footy gets,' I don't think anybody that watched that game and knows anything about footy could've come to that conclusion considering it was a scrappy error riddled game culminating in an error after the siren deciding it. It was the second worst final by standard of the whole finals series.

I can find plenty of quotes saying people respect Blight and not many saying people respect Scott but to find a specific quote mentioning the both of them together re: respect is ludicrous! As the whole debate has only been discussed on this board and never in the media. In fact I reckon it'd be hard to find a quote comparing Blight and any other coach ever in regards to respect levels.
