What is wrong with Ed Sheeran, out of interest? I'm in no rush to buy any of his albums but he's a decent enough performer with a couple of decent songs
I don't know any of his songs and would prefer to keep it that way, so in fact even if you were playing Ed Sheeran songs as you came to pop me I still probably wouldn't know it was you.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

What sort(s) of music do you enjoy, BC?
Or should we take this to the music thread?

He's pretty mainstream but very clever - uses loops etc quite well and when he wants to be, he's a decent guitarist. His most famous song is literally the only hit pop song of the last 5 years or so that I can safely say i genuinely enjoy.

In answer to your question from the closed thread, I play a) whatever the audience is hassling me to play, which regularly means songs I don't like, and b) a wide range. The Kinks, Oasis, Radiohead, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Diesel, Jebediah, Cold Chisel, Mental as Anything, Take That (yes, take that), plenty of others from most genres.

Wasn't ever too adamant about it but yes did say we wouldn't make the 8, doesn't look like happening so far but regardless we'll still perform poorly in finals if we make it anyway then we'll all be able to jump on the predictable merry go round of Scott's coaching again for another 3 years - decent season performances followed by pathetic finals performances, and repeat.
You were adamant about it; in fact, i've bookmarked the post in which you definitively claimed that Geelong won't make this eight this year. It's ready to go. 'Just saying'.

Can you explain to me where in the above post I denied that I said Geelong wouldn't make the 8 this year? I said I wasn't adamant about it because I wasn't, I said it once or twice at most and on at least one of those occasions said it in the context of saying we'd finish 6th to 10th etc. If I was adamant about it I would've said it's a certainty and repeated it many times and I haven't

So, yes I said it, but I wasn't 'adamant' about it.

Well we should take it to the music thread but those ^ peaked my interest slightly more than Sheeran that middle of the road over sentimental corporate musakal whore.

He perfectly suits the era - music without testicles for a society without testicles.

I can't respect any 'musician' who plays a toy guitar.

cant seriously expect a team with jack watts in the ruck to run over the top of us

all those missed shots take a toll also, you only get so many chances

they were cooked at 3 quarter time

Melbourne are a quality side with Hogan, Lewis and Gawn in the team. If those guys were playing and they werent so terrible in front of goals we lose the game by 10 goals.
A quality side that can't run out games and kick set shots? Sounds like Port Adelaide for the previous two years, hardly intimidating.

That side wasn't going to beat us with Gawn, Lewis and Hogan - they are not worth the additional 6 goals required to beat us.

I agree. Even diehard Melbourne supporters recognise the current young outfit lacks the killer instinct and the ability to withstand last minute onslaughts by opposition teams (i.e., 2 goals by Cats in the dying seconds of the 3rd quarter). Melbourne will only get better, so watch out.

People underrate how important a good ruck is.

Imagine if Hawkins was out injured and Taylor had to ruck against Gawn for 3/4 of the game. That is pretty much what happened to them.

So you don't have time for Diesel? He uses a small body Maton all the time.
theres good and bad music in every era, and its all subjective anyway. like what you like. i can enjoy plenty of daft music. 'love yourself' by bieber is a great tune, coincidentally co-written by ed sheeran. i probably wouldnt buy it, but if it comes on ill turn it up and enjoy it. ive even put it on voluntarily on youtube a few times. people get far too precious about whats 'allowed' and what isnt. if you like a song, you like it. end of story.

on a side note, there isnt a generation in history that hasnt thought theirs had it all right and the 'younger generation' have lost the plot.

I always looked at Bomba leaving as a favour. He knew he had nothing left to give (mentally and physically burnt out) and was bereft of ideas so did the right thing by going at the end of 2010.

This is somewhat similar to those supporters who lambaste Ayres for being a mediocre coach but are still crying that he betrayed us by leaving to coach Adelaide. :drunk: Even after all these years they probably don't realise how contradictory those views are.
He was finished with geelong when he quit did the club a favour to be honest. He lost his passion he will still go down as one of the greatest coaches geelong has ever had and did an incredible job and had us at the forefront of strategy and player development for a long period of time. His off field exploits are unfortunately the legacy he will be remembered by i remember the KK scenario and his substance question marks and his relationship with players i think suffered because of what he was becoming off field more than his job in the box

i dont disagree wirh much of that, except to say there are very few finals that are or should be considered 100% certainties. 'should never have lost' is a bit strong. 'should have done better' is a bit general and nebulous i know, but how i probably see it.

personally, only the 2012 EF is one i see as inexplicable. the other finals losses i thought were all distinct possibilities or probabilities. we were very ordinary throughout 2014.
2013 preliminary final is the one we should have got the rest i care little for. That was one ripe for the taking probably not his fault but ended being my most heartbreaking loss of all the finals you could almost taste a grandfinal berth none of the other series we were really serious threats in my opinion

True. Except with me, I thought my generation was just as bad. It was the previous generation whose music I prefer.

I think the good of the Melbourne game is being too easily overlooked. We played well in a number of ways, less so in some others. We still won by 5 goals in the end.
Lewis, Hogan and Gawn down at half time arguably 3 of the most important players.

Waite, Goldstein, Wood out against north

None of that we could help is out of our control and both those games we clicked when it mattered and did well to win. But i think the wins need to be kept quite simply with the lid firmly on we can loosen it when we can win against a high calibre side playing 1.5 qtrs v north and 2 qtrs against melbourne is a trouble trend for mine but i take nothing away from the mental strength and attitude to winning those games you can only beat whats in front of you

fair enough... id agree with 2013 PF at 3/4 time, but before the game i thought wed be lucky to get within 5 goals. we were humming in 2013 until 3/4s of the way through the season, then the sputtering started.

having written that, id almost say the 2013 PF was the mircocosm of the whole season.
