Guys i can understand your disdain about tarrant, but i highl;y doubt he'll play all year.He is very injury prone.

Hey i am surprised Freo didn't make a play for Medhurst.
Collingwood offered him a one year deal but he retired, surely he has at least another two good years left in him,and a chance to return home in WA would be enticing.I believe he is overseas at the moment, but a surprise selection in the later drafts should be considered by Freo to get him back if he nominates that is.

Your thoughts?

I'm disappointed but not hugely surprised. Like has been said in here, he never really seemed to embrace the club. If in his heart he was always a Collingwood player then he's where he belongs, we don't need that on our list.

I'd have lost respect for Collingwood and Connors over this if I'd had any to begin with. Just highlights why we should not deal with them again.

Tarrant was a major disappointment as a forward and a good find as a backman but not an irreplaceable player (we showed that at the end of this year).

Interestingly I'm pretty sure I read that he's looking forward to spending some time as a forward as well as in defence. Can you imagine it? Cloke and Tarrant in the forward line? The poor boundary umpire would get a workout.

I look forward to him playing up forward for them and getting towelled up by our new FB sensation - Faulksy! This kid could be our answer for the next 8 years. At best Tarrant has 2.

Freo won't be picking up Medhurst, he doesn't fit into our gameplan, let alone our senior list after this draft period, his best is behind him and he'll take the place of another highly talented youngster if we did pick him up.

The ONLY good thing about having him would be so he could play 1 game and be eligible for F/S should it ever become a reality.

I will refrain from insulting comments on the Chris Tarrant trade saga but will agree with much of what has been said (except for hoping he does his knee bit).

Not a Dockers fan but i agree with the Dockers fans. Dog act by Tarrant and Paul Connors to. For him just to up and leave shows he has the heart the size of a pea.

Hope he enjoys his time in the VFL because thats where he should stay. If spots in that team are compromised for the vastly developing Reid, there number one stopper Presti or Nathan Brown who can hold his own than that is horrible and one of Brown or Reid should walk. What a shit team to trade with Collingwood are. Same with Carlton and the Jacobs deal

+1 for me, prick of a bloke, tosser manager and scum Club! Hope your blokes belt the living out of them !!!

your joking  medhurst was horrible when he was with us, had one decent year at collingwood (which was the goal kicking equivalent of his best season at freo btw), but other than that provided very little. completely overrated, wouldnt get a game with ahead of ballas/walters/mayne or any of our other GOOD players

I would consider booing Tarrant which is something I do not do apart from to players that take cheap shots like that sniper Baker.

The way he treated us after we got his life back on track was disgraceful. A selfish prick indeed. Would be quite satisfied if he did not manage another game in AFL. I would not wish a "nasty" injury on him though.

Medhurst was fine when they let him play his natural game instead of trying to play him out of position. His role was null and void when Farmer was the nominal small forward and they had to make Medhurst 'versatile'.

medhurst's attitude was null and void, i will conceed that connolly's treatment of him wasnt the best, but the fact paul's ego stopped him from having a work ethic was more the point. anyway, i was stoked when we traded him. but, ive said my piece on him before, probably time i let it go

Never struck me as the sort of bloke who'd stick around.

Think we're far better off without him as a person. Sad to lose him from the backline but, life goes on.

Good luck Taz. I can't understand the whole 'turned his career around' line. Freo wanted Taz bad and got him. If anything, Freo erred badly last year in not going for a more lucrative trade at that time, when he stated his intentions to return home. He was very clear that he was going to retire if not playing for Collingwood next season.

At last, a reasonable response. I can understand your anger but you win some you lose some. I don't expect Freo fans to wish him luck but in the end, there was always some risk of a go-home factor. We'll probably only get 2 more years out of him max anyway. Apart from Ben Reid, the whole deal ended up fairly square.

The go home factor becomes irrelevant when he threatens to retire if he doesn't get to Collingwood, despite other Melbourne based clubs being interested him. The anger isn't about Tarrant leaving, its about how he left

There, I have publicly stated my thoughts on the bloke. Now it's time to move on. He is the last of the bad old days and it's water under the bridge. Bring on 2011 :thumbsu:

Is that sour grapes because he isnt hanging out off your ARSE anymore.

Any comments on spud McPHEE returning or is it only one way traffic.

Do you actually have any idea about the McPhee situation or are you just parroting crap you've heard from other pie fans.

From what I've read Freo never targeted McPhee until after trade week when he said the PSD was an option. Prior to trade week McPhee intended to sign with the Bombers until they offered Mark Williams a three year contract. This combined with Knights forcing Johnson, Pevrill, Lloyd and Lucas to retire made McPhee think he needed a 3 year contract. Essendon, Melbourne and Richmond all could've had McPhee before Freo, where as Tarrant made sure that the only place he would play next year was at Collingwood

He joins Ablett and Judd as players who were developed by their club and walks out for the $.I know the $ is what makes the world go round but it was the way those players did say they were going.
Tarrants career was finished until the Dockers re-invented him in the backline.
He should have stayed 1 more year with your club but just like Headland their partners wanted to go back home so Tarrant and Headland said , ok .
Tarrant went back East and Headland came back West from Qld.

Of course it was all about the $$$$.

Just in case you have forgotten, Taz spent 9 years at Collingwood.

9 > 4.

"I don't get it", Chris played out his contract and I am pretty sure he really thought he would be retiring after that. However, Freo resurrected him and he began to love his footy again. Chris loved living in Perth but it was time to come home, his decision was not just based on just footy but to be close to his family. If you remember past comments from Chris from many years ago, how important his family/friends were to him compared to football. They always come first. He wanted Collingwood because he would not want to be a 3 team player & his best friends are still there. He did his best for Freo but it is business and if he had not played well at the end of his contract, do you think Freo would have resigned him.Just wish him well.
