I've never had an issue with Carlton asking for 12.
You could argue that he's not worth 12 but that's the pick we have, we want him and he's Carltons.
That's how the world works.
The part that has me scratching my head is did the two clubs have some sort of discussion before Richmond went and got 19?
You would like to think like any normal person that they would.
So my question is did Carlton reneg which is ordinary or did Richmond just assume which again is ordinary.
Poorly handled one way or another.
Richmond have stated that Carlton want pick 12 but the Tigers think he is worth a pick in the low 20s but are happy to compromise. They assumed that pick 19 was going to be the compromise

And that is why the the AFL is a joke. Cry baby footballers have far too much influence over the clubs in regards to just being able to back out of contracts and demand they be traded to a specific club or city.

Don't nominate yourself for national drafts for a professional league if you ren't prepared to accept you could be traded anyway.
I agree and it's what I been saying all along. Contracted players have to much power.

It's going on a little too far because it has taken Richmond over a week to come up with something within the ballpark of what Carlton want. Now because sos doesn't sign it within hours, we need mediation.

This could of been wrapped up on day 1 if Richmond weren't obsessed with trying to get a bargain.

Look at north Melbourne, you know, the side that beat you in the finals this year? Saw what they wanted this trade period. Paid for it. Smashed Richmond's midfield last year and just made their midfield better.

Richmond took Ben Lennon at around pick 12 2 years ago and he didn't play in the elimination final this year as he is yet to reach the required output to be a solid contributor. Probably won't be next year either. Yarran certainly would have, but Richmond are happy to wait 3 years for a player to possibly have the output that Yarran has now.

If you are happy for the Bulldogs, gws, gc, port, St.kilda and collingwood to fly past you in the next couple of years, that is fine with all of us

Mate North got picks back from the Hawks so it's not really that one sided. Richmond have a young list and I believe that I would rather 2 first round picks into our team then just one in Yarran who has shown that he only can play at maximum 4/5 good games a year

SOS showing his lack of experience in actually having to work for a living. Carlton are the worst performing club both on and off the field and this is just the latest of many many examples.

Very confident this will all work out in the end.

It is all going to plan actually.

I get your point, but just don't agree. Come the deadline on Thursday when Richmond has refused to budge on Carltons request for pick 12 and Yarran is refusing to go anywhere but the Tigers then more than likely Carlton accept what's on offer -pick 19 (which is fair).
No argument he is contracted, but there's no way he can stay at the club next year and as stated in the article he is not open to approaches from other cubs.
Fair call. I guess time will tell..

Incorrect. Read the back page of the HUN, Carlton are blocking this, and no one bar Carlton can believe you are not taking 19. Nearly everyone (bar Carlton supporters) are either shaking their head or laughing at Carlton.

Knocking back this trade its official, SOS is the new Dodoro, and it will make life difficult for the Blues in future trade periods.

Not here to debate Yarran's worth. But to put things in perspective on why SOS is playing hardball.
Carlton are well and truly pi$&ed that a CONTRACTED Yarran was spoken to during the middle of the season. Contracts were offered which made it impossible for said parties to consider other clubs offers. Hawthorn said that they were interested but negotiations were very advanced between Yarran and Richmond.
Carlton in turn are asking for what they are asking for due to a CONTRACTED player being spoken too during a season.

100% agree with this, 100%.

Our clubs valuations may differ, but I think most would be on board with this statement.

Richmond are a pack of amateurs, haven't got the nouse to get high profile players in, look at Hawthorn and Geelong, they target who they want and get them, do the deal. Better get this deal done Richmond or this trade period is a failure...

When you disrupt a player mid season then nominates your club but fail to deliver there is massive credibility issues. Don't you think?.. if you don't then poor credibility is in your repertoire.
Just so I'm clear here, you're saying it's Richmond's fault that Yarren played shit and lost interest this year?

It doesn't make much sense to me that Carlton are being ultra stingey with Yarran who wants to leave, but are giving away Menzel for chips who has shown more promise and hasn't demonstrated a burning desire to leave the Blues. The only conclusion is that Carlton are tolling KB imo
That or the Menzel hypothetical was offered by Adelaide and hasn't/won't be accepted by Carlton.

t seems almost unfathomable that a fully fit player in his prime would sit out a season to get to his club of choice, but that's apparently what disgruntled Blue Chris Yarran is considering.

The Herald Sun reports the 24-year-old is so desperate become a Tiger that he could give the 2016 season a miss and join Richmond as a free agent.

"It’s a possible option," a source close to Yarran told the Herald Sun.

Carlton refuses to accept Richmond’s offer of pick 19 for the 119-gamer, and it is believed the Blues would also have knocked back the pick 17 the Tigers tried to coax from the Brisbane Lions in exchange for defender David Astbury.

Carlton remains adamant it wants the Tigers' pick 12 for Yarran.

But The Age suggests the Blues might soften their hardline stance given it appears untenable for Yarran to fulfill the final year of his contract at Ikon Park.

It's believed the Blues and Yarran have not had direct contact at any stage of the trade period, and Carlton's free agency compensation for him next year wouldn't be as good as pick 19.

I don't think yarran is stupid enough because he would be forgoing the 400k he is on, then he is a restricted free agent next year so tigers still have to trade for him next year. The balls in the blues court not in tigers or yarrans.

In fact unless it was for a super star your clubs first pick should never be traded.
I think North got a better player in anderson then they could have drafted with their first pick. Anderson is not a superstar either.

Swans will get a better player in Mills, then they could have got with their first rounder (pick 14). He is no Superstar.

I could go on, but this is a stupid statement.

There are a lot of reasons to trade your first pick
