If it's a newsflash it's in the news, link me.
Yeah Geelong haven't spoken to Dangerfield at all.

Sydney spoke to Buddy in the off-season only.

Etc, etc.

No doubt paid overs for Hampson in hindsight so obviously not happy, but that wasn't the point I was making. you stated that tiger talk in trade period amounts to nothing, my point is we were able to get the Hampson deal done and you were more than fairly compensated.
Re Yarran, our first pick is 11 our second probably 29, i'd say he is somewhere between those two. Other players/trades will probably be involved to get it over the line.
Not bothering with your quip re Septemeber this thread relates to draft/trading.

Welcome to September folks .
As usual , we have our beloved tiger supporters talking the talk .
Confidently sprouting the unders they expect to pay for the CONTRACTED Yarran .
As was the case last year , i expect the tigers talk in the trade period to amount to nothing .
Without any fanfare , Sydney , North , Hawthorn , WC , Freo etc will negotiate a fair trade and get on with business ...
Some things never change ...
Gee mate calm down.
Our clubs have had no problems doing deals in the past.
Hampson trade went very smoothly as did the Collins/Grigg swap.
We all like to overrate out own players, it's part of being a fan, but I think even you would realise that Yarran isn't worth pick 12.
He is worth a pick in the early 20's.
We may have to get other clubs involved and thats more than fine, everyone will get a fair deal by the end of it.
Yarran may be contracted but he has stated a desire to move, not uncommon in the AFL these days.
You won't get our first pick, but the deal will get done and everyone will be happy.

I think a lot of people here are missing the point.

I remember a month or so ago hearing Scott Lucas saying that clubs and managers generally do trades not based on current form, but more on runs on the board and potential and how they can help the team said player is going to.

Basically he said that current form equates for zilch.

So I'd take what a current player manager says on how most trades are done over what the so called Richmond supporter BF experts have to say.

Based on that, if Richmond want him especially if they have so called been in his ear and is CONTRACTED!!!! they will have to pay. It will be a 1st rounder or Lennon, but I tend to think it will be Lennon seeming he is currently not contracted.

If Lennon signs then obviously the tune changes, but until then I think that will be the result and a fair one, Richmond supporters can't complain, your getting a bonfide starting 22 player which improves your team for a player that didn't even play in your final...

When you're asking for a first-rounder, surely recent performance counts for something.

Doesn't mean you have to accept it without question.
True, but it just funny hearing all the opinions here. A lot of supporters just can't see the forest from the trees or can't look past their teams colours glasses...

Good luck next week, I think you'll be playing in the big one :)

One might say the same about Carlton supporters talking up Yarran's value.

It's a dog with two dicks, as they say in the movies.

I was including Carlton supporters.... Or are you having a swipe at me??

Do you not think a straight swap of 2 players that effective ended up their seasons dropped not a fair deal??

Your major flaw is that you are listening to Scott Lucas. The guy is an idiot. The other major flaw you have is that your contracted player has gone public stating he will never play with the blues again. That alone erodes his value, how badly I guess we'll see.

Lennon is still developing. Yarran is meant to be good to go.

I couldn't tell you if that straight swap is fair. I'm not sure how highly rated Lennon is and I haven't seen enough to judge.

It's clear a deal has already been agreed, it will just be interesting to see what that may be.
Worst case scenario for Richmond would be losing our first round pick or Lennon in the deal.
Worst case for Carlton if they only get our secound round pick (pick 30?) Which is definitely not fair.

My opinion on fair would be our second round pick and Griffiths/Astbury for Yarran. Which IMO is slightly in Carlton's favor as KPP hold a higher value.

Damien Barrett reported it around 6-8 weeks ago Yarran himself had been having meetings with Richmond officials during the year and not his manager but himself which he said is a big no unless Carlton approved it and said there'd been more than 1 meeting so obviously they did
Now why we listen to these media types with a grain of salt this one is panning out true.
Going back towards the start of the year I remember Hardwick getting grilled by Healy on why we didn't go for Gartlett when it's exactly what we need and Hardwick saying because we have someone else in mind for this year and if it pans out it will work a lot better than Gartlett
Blues and Tiges get along fine when trading ( might change now Bolton and SOS are there ) so I'm pretty sure a deal has already been sorted and it will be good for both teams and what it is we will have to wait and see

Let's wait for the fun and games to begin. There will beinterest in Yarran no doubt. Highest bidder will win out, Yarran cannot determine his final destination as he's contacted.
He wants a fresh start that's fine , but he can't deny CFC the opportunity to get best deal possible.
Not necessarily highest bidder wins out.

As you rightly point out, he is contracted. Therefore he can refuse to go to a club he is not interested in, even if they have a superior bid. I am not saying he will go to Tiges only (don't really want him, is a sook). But Carlton can't shop him around to the highest bidder, he has to agree.
