This thread is going in circles. Carlton fans seem to be angling for our first pick or Lennon - which he's clearly not worth. My question to the bluesers is, what extra would you throw in to make a trade for our first rounder equitable?

By not accepting the $10 it means the market value is higher than that.
The market has told you your pillow is worth $10. You can refuse to sell at that price but the market has spoken.

Doesn't mean it is a million, but that pillow is clearly worth more than $10 to the onwer, who forms part of the market.
Use value, as opposed to exchange value.

Negotiations are still in play.
Sure. You can wait and hope someone offers you $11. But, as it stands, the market values the pillow at $10.

Market value is what the expected sale would be.
It's not. Market value is what the market is willing to pay.

Expectations will vary depending on who you ask so that's not reliable.

Stop making up new explanations on the fly. It's obvious that you're guessing.

Example: what price have similar pillows sold for. How much demand is there for the pillow, scarcity of these pillows etc
See above.

Market value is what the market is willing to pay.

As such you have proven that you have no idea what you are talking about so I will no longer respond to your posts
Still promising to quit while behind?

Good stuff.

Lol

You are obviously trying to reel everyone into an argument.

But highest bidder and market value are two completely different concepts.

You have shown yourself to be lacking here and are clearly an argumentative person who strives to get the last say. So go on I will allow you the satisfaction..

Carlton haven't put him on the market. This point is a hard sell around here.

If someone walked into my house and wanted that pillow, and my perceived value of that pillow was a million dollars, then it's up to the buyer to meet that demand
You do know bolton has already said if yarran wants to leave then his not going to stop him?

Nope. Just telling you how it is.

I haven't said anything about 'highest bidder'.

Is this the latest tangent you've decided to pull out of your arse?

Please. Don't kid yourself.

Your pillow won't flush itself down the toilet if it doesn't get sold, or drag your toothbrush and slippers with it by bitching behind your back for a year.

How on earth is Lennon worth less than our first rounder?
Well Lennon isn't contracted and isn't signing for some reason and was a Carlton supporter growing up, may request a trade. Well that's the general rumor going around at least. So it only seems logical to put two and two together? We colud throw in Warnock ;)

Lennon is a first round draft pick so we are still giving up a first pick which we said we wont do
And what draft pick was Yarren??? I think a straight swap is fair, like I've said earlier a straight swap of players that essentially both finished their seasons by getting dropped is a fair trade.

Lennon has been on our list for 2 years and has done nothing to decrease his value, as his developing nicely to become a great player, yaran on the other hand has compactly ruined his value over the last year.

Your not trying to trade for player that improves your depth, your trading for a player that will walk straight into your best 22 wherever you play him and for a player that automatically improves your team.

You need to give up something for a player like that, especially one that currently contracted..

And a pick in the 30's won't cut it, but a player that suits where Carlton is at, that's developing like a Lennon does.

When your in premiership mode like the Tigers are, that's what you do.

You sell developing players with promise for players that can improve your starting lineup straight away, it's a fine line between selling the future for the present, but that's what makes the difference from Finals wins and Grand Finals to just making finals and staying stagnant.

The 'general rumour' is a load of shit which has come about purely because Lennon is out of contract. Have you seen Lennon's bare torso? He has a gigantic tiger tattoo on his ribs. Loves the club and the players and from what I've heard, he was upset about being dropped for the final, but ultimately he wants to stay, and we want to keep him. Yarran on the other hand wants to leave and has only devalued himself this year. In terms of talent they're about on par but Yarran has shown himself to be flaky and unreliable, Lennon has not. I would spew if we made that trade. Literally spew.

1) This is the third dumbest thing I've ever read on BigFooty
2) Yarran might be a best 22 player but he's a 15-22 player right now. That isn't worth a first round pick
3) You have no idea what our team age bracket looks like if you think we're in Premiership mode right now

I get your rhetoric. But unless a sale happens you are only talking about best offer. Negotiations are not concluded, and the seller has not agreed. The buyer may indeed value the product higher but due to circumstances is only willing to offer a certain amount. This happened for Fremantle negotiating for Clark thinking they were the only buyer.

It's not going to be richmonds first I just can't see them giving it up. So then it looks to be a player plus richmonds second. The issue I see is there isn't a whole lot on their list that Carlton would want (not saying they are no good). I like Vlastuin but we are pretty well right off half back. Menadue hasn't done much and would be well unders. Can't see us wanting Griffiths or Astbury so that leaves Lennon and McBean. Would a deal of Yarran for Lennon with swap of seconds or carltons second for richmonds third work?

Market value has no meaning in AFL trades. When a player can and usually does nominate a single club, or even a subset of clubs, there is no market. Market value would only be applicable as a concept if you consider what the player would gather if he was willing to be traded to multiple clubs and ideally any of them. Trying to claim that whatever a club receives in return for a player is market value is rubbish.

Why would you even bring up Vlastuin in no way would we trade a number 9 draft pick

lol, cause he barracked for someone as a kid makes absolutely no difference.

You clearly don't know how employment works.

I liked going to Toys R Us when I was a kid, however, I'm not leaving my current employer to join em!
