Can't understand why some Richmond fans don't want him. Can play on any line and do damage. Don't know about the the first round pick but he's worth going to the table and a headache or two to get the deal done.
Varcoe has been excellent for us this year and IMO Yarran's impact at Richmond will be greater due to where they are at present.
Personally I am excited we will be getting Yarran. He immediately addresses a need we have, we don't have many line breakers who can use the footy. When Yarran is in the right head space, he can do that. All this talk about Lennon makes me laugh. Name one kid the Tigers have lost that was a first round pick ? Say what you like about the Tigers as a destination club BUT we don't lose players we want and we want Lennon.

All this talk about Yarran being worth a first round is garbage. Nobody is factoring in that the Blues have mismanaged Yarran this year to the point where he has walked out on his club, that impacts dramatically his value, thinking otherwise is pure fantasy. We will offer a second round selection and they will take it.

What number is your second rounder? If the draft is shallow, would a third party need to be involved. Can't see Carlton accepting a second rounder.

Id back Lennon to be the better player within two seasons tops
Perhaps, perhaps not. What is for certain though is that by end of 2017 (2 seasons), richmond's first 22 will start to look old -> maric (31), chaplin (31), deledio (30), grigg (29), houli (29), edwards (28), reidwoldt (28), morris (28)

8/22 @ 28 or older -> Means the tigers potentially have a very short window when lennon is starting to provide value (the better than yarran proposition), or face the difficult prospect of rebuilding the team whilst on top.

Morris aint best 22 and we are already looking for replacements for Maric, Grigg and Chaplin.

I suspect by 2017 only 4 or 5 of them will be best 22.

Best 22 was based on games played/this year - you'd know your list depth better than myself i.e. who might be expected to come through etc.

Imo, when looking at 2017 and beyond, you should be considering best 30 or so (i.e. depth/injuries) - too risky to just project best 22 for finals.

Back to original point - if tigers think they have sufficient depth on hand and the right age profile to really start an extended challenge in 2017, then they should retain lennon.

If they think the time to strike is in the next year or so, then yarran becomes a much higher priority and bringing in more mature players might be the way to go.

Yarran will a gun next year for the tiges. He will take you to the 2nd week of finals without doubt, if you could get kruezer as well it would take you to another level again. The tiges should pursue both.

Bennell should be on the radar too.
You need 2 out these 3

I think methamphetamine use should be banned within the offices of Punt Road.

For years we've heard about this "war chest" Richmond has aaand we're going to come into 2016 having acquired Yarran and Hampson... It's like we love the laughter of opposition supporters.

The bolded ones probably won't be best 22 anymore at that time.

Along the lines of what Eddie Betts has done...
Except Betts still goes alright in a crap team because he's capable of winning his own ball. Yarran is more of a link up man, but he's great once you get the ball in his hands. Yarran has a lot more improvement going from a poor to a good side than Betts does

Most people, including myself, were calling for Morris to be dropped every week. He was a liability as a small forward.

Who knows what will happen but we still have a young list and maybe 6 odd players in 2017 will be in that 28-30 bracket but thats considered your prime. We will still have a bunch (16-20) odd players between 21-27 who will be getting better with natural improvement.

Lennon is massively rated internally with Richmond. He will not be traded for Yarran, it sounds like he will re-sign anyway but i'd say it'll be a separate trade if he decides to leave and you guys will have great leverage with the PSD if he chooses you.

I prefer Bennell over Yarran. You know Bennell tries. Yarran has a history of not trying and that is the worst thing you do in a team sport.

If Bennell wakes up to himself he is a potential brownlow medalist. I'd gamble on him.

Clearly I have no idea what Lennon is going to do, but would love to know why you know what he is doing.
How do you know he won't be traded for Yarren? How do you know he is about to resign?
Just want to know as his name pops up a lot in these pages and it would be great if we can put it to bed so his name doesn't pop up in discussions anymore.
Cheers.

His name pops up a lot because he is a well rated player that was dropped for a finals game. So there is speculation about whether or not he is happy. That is pretty much it.

But when you consider that he is only a second year player that is practically guaranteed a starting spot in a team trying to push for a grand final next year, and has a huge tattoo of a tiger on his chest, I think the speculation is unwarranted.

The bit in bold says why richmond will have to deal with 1st round pick or decent player
This is acknowledged as a weak draft
Next years draft is considered a strong one
As yarran is contracted , richmond will need to make a better offer this year than what carlton would get as compo for a restricted free agent in the 2016 draft, or carlton can just keep him and get a compo pick in 2016
while yarran watches richmond play finals in 2016 from the stands
We are not in a flag window, so time on carlton side
richmond playing finals and yarran adds quality to thier side , ( provided his head is right)
Time is not on your side, he has walked out on your club and won't be playing there again - Yarran's words there, not just speculation.

If you make him play in your reserves next year by forcing him to honour his contract because, for example, the club thinks that it would rather do that than trade him for a 2nd round pick, what sort of damage do you think that will do to the clubs morale and young players development?

He's not happy and not willing to play for the jumper so he's in the VFL, when he spends a year in the VFL what sort of compensation of you think you'll get? Probably none

When players consider trades, will the knowledge of how Yarran was treated make them want to go to Carlton? nope

Carlton has to trade him this year, and it will be for less than he was worth if he was traded last year. I think our 2015 second rounder is all you are likely to get from Richmond if that is where he wants to go.

You realise when Hawthorn won the Grand Final last year they had: Hodge (30), Mitchell (31), Burgoyne (31), Lewis (28), Hale (30), Gibson (30), Roughead (27), Lake (32) and Spangher (27) playing for them. This year they're a good chance to do it again and they'll all be a year older.

If Deledio (30), Houli (29), Edwards (28) and Reiwoldt (28) are our oldest players in 2017 then I will be very happy with that.

Pick 33 for one of the most damaging/high impact line-breakers in the league?

I feel like this is one big coordinated troll by Richmond supporters...

This so-called "damaging/high impact line-breaker" was getting seven touches in the reserves team for the wooden spooners.
