The sooner you guys just accept that a 2nd rounder is the best draft pick you're getting for Yarran, the sooner you guys can focus on your rebuild and getting elite talent back into the club again, and rebuilding.

It was only a theory/opinion before, but now the factual thoughts of Carlton, Richmond, as well as Yarran himself, are being confirmed daily. And those thoughts are simple:

- Despite being contracted, Carlton knows Yarran is gone.
- Despite being contracted, Yarran knows he's leaving.
- Despite wanting a 1st round pick, Carlton (the club, not you guys on BF) KNOW they aren't going to get one.
- Carlton seem to understand that a 2nd round pick + maybe another player, or an exchange of lower picks, is going to be the best they're going to get, because they ALSO know that....
- Despite being contracted, there is absolutely no way Chris Yarran is staying on Carlton's list for another year, therefore other clubs have the bargaining power in this one, not Carlton.

Whilst it's probably not fair, given your draft investment in Yarran, him being contracted for 2016 is now officially irrelevant in on-going negotiations, due to the context of the situation - which was my whole point earlier in the thread.

At this point, anybody from Carlton who's thinking you're getting a 1st rounder for Yarran, contracted or not contracted, and fair or not fair, I'm sorry to say is doing this:

You can take your attitude and ******* shove it.

He has a contract for next year, and if he doesn't want to play for us he gets Carlton a first round pick or he sits in the VFL for a year or on the sidelines. When he goes to FA next year he will get a pretty good contract and worse case scenario will be a band 3 (2nd round compensation) which with Carlton performing lower than Richmond next year and a much more solid draft will be a better pick than you're second rounder on offer this year.

Looks like a very solid bargaining position to me no matter how much you believe that you'll steal an A grader from Carlton for **** all.

The only way Yarran's value goes up, is if Yarran is wanted by a multitude of clubs.

At this point, it seems only Richmond are REALLY interested. So maybe if Carlton can get a few other clubs vying for him, they might have a shot for a 1st rounder, but if it's just Carlton and Richmond in the negotiations, well Richmond have the advantage in what they can offer, unfair as it may seem.
He's contracted. He's a Carlton player for 2016. So if Richmond want him, there are two clubs vying. First rounder thanks. Two first rounders if we manage to convince a second club that hilariously believes its on the verge of premiership success to bite.

Carlton has zero obligation to get him to Richmond and you aren't the only team interested. So for your sake if your club wants him, I hope they have better negotiating skills than you.

But considering Richmond hasn't landed a 'big fish' in years and is constantly overlooked, we may have just identified one of your club's problems

I am seriously astounded that so many Richmond posters fail to acknowledge that Yarran is under contract for next season, so we are not having to be bent over in trade negotiations.

Surely Sydney would pay their first rounder for Yarran now that Jetta is set to leave and they've been given leeway with the trading ban.
Couldn't agree more Cringle… them or Hawks - can see either offering their first straight up… though Swannies will need all the picks they can get for their academy kids. Would love a Titchell swap but we'd need to give something else their way to sweeten it.

But they have stockpiled quite a few potatoes and a number of lemons...will make for some epic fish and chips when they do finally reel one in. Also plenty of salty tears for seasoning.

John Ralph just said "I can confirm that Chris Yarran has left the Carlton Football Club and his management has officially requested a trade"

Wants a trade to Rivhmond, Tuggas want Yarran

Blues want a first rounder

Don't always get what you want. Oh unless he's contracted. Stump up # 12 or take the punt no body else wants him.
