Is it really that easy to get his head straight? The club has sports psychologists - why haven't they turned him around? I think once players have switched off from wanting to be part of a club it's usually best to let them go. The real problem for Carlton is that we have a poor culture (at present) and so many very good to gun players have left/want to leave: Waite, Betts, Garlett, Yarran, Henderson, Robinson, Jacobs etc.
Jacobs was while we were making finals and it was for opportunity, not culture.

Robinson was part of the culture problem. He didn't leave, we let him go.

Betts left for money and because he was a Crows fan growing up and had SA connections.

Garlett was part of the culture problem.

Waite and Henderson were inconsistent, injured regularly and contributed to performance through lack of intensity.

If Cripps, Docherty, Tuohy want out, we have a problem.

Best to worse case.

Yarran for Lennon
Yarran 20 for Richmond's first
Yarran for McBean + extras
Yarran for McBean
Yarran for Menadue +
Yarran for Richmond's second

I'm guessing bottom three most likely

If the offers are terrible, surely we consider send Yarran and Hendo elsewhere.

Like Yarran and Henderson for Carlisle
Yarran for first rounder should be inserted as the top option.

Bottom 3 the most unlikely for mine.

Send him to Essendon for Carlisle if needed. Piss poor attitude, Yazz, you lost a lot of support and respect this season with your selfish, inept performances.
Trade hard Blues.
Adelaide, maybe (Danger compo)
Sydney for Jetta and/or more run
Hawks, Eagles but may prefer Jetta. North for missing Wells run/replacement.
Port will be short for picks after Dixon but A.Moore could figure in a trade ++.
Plus there's always next year's 1st rounders.

I know. I'm saying that if players that do put in and do work hard for each other want to leave, then we have a problem. Massive contract offers and homesickness notwithstanding.

I know that's what you meant. I was just pointing out the interview because it was great to see the young fella so rapt to have won the award and pledging his long term allegiance to the club.
He knows he will be the next captain :)

And you see these young guys and they know they are the next generation. Cripps, Doc, Bucks, Graham ... they are intent on making their mark and are already leading by example. A lot of players know they had conditional teammates. They have been expressing this for two years now.

If we have a culture problem that infects players, you have to wonder why it seems to bypass those players known for their hard work and passion. Coincidental?

I'd go with one of these three options...

1. Involve a trade with Lennon probably giving Richmond an upgrade in the second round.
2. Involve a trade with either Richmonds first rounder or another interested teams for Hawthorns, Sydneys, etc. first rounder.
3. Let him have a year off.

Would be disappointed if we cave in and let him go contracted for a late second rounder.

Yeah Juddy spoke of it when he said earlier this year that a lot of the guys played for their next contract, not team success.
Not hard to work out who it was aimed at.
Two of them have just left and some had left previously!

Dead on. Juddy never shirked it, Carrazzo was passionate as they come, Ellard never shirked it. It meant something for those guys to play for the CFC.

The only players that have left in the past couple of years that never shirked it were Robinson and Laidler. Robinson did it to himself and Laidler was a victim of Mick.

If Richmond do not want to trade their first pick then a player swap might be the option.

I have Yarran's trade value as pick 17.

I have Ben Lennon's trade value as pick 17.

Others around that mark on the Richmond list that are tradeable, Thomas, Batchelor, Lloyd.
done deal will drive him around
