Re: Chris Yarran

Yarran could be purple for all I care.

His background hasn't made him into a gun player and silky footballer.

Walker and Anderson aren't flawless field kicks...

I went cold on the Buddy Draft after one week because I had Fevola and he didn't any more written about him after his inauspicious start to the year. ;)

Re: Chris Yarran

Kreuzer taps it to Judd who breaks out of the centre and kicks to Walker on the HFF.

Yarran roves the spillage without breaking stride, gets around the Tigers' Captain and hits Fevola on the chest in square with the outside of his boot.

Tee hee...

Im sure we will hear that scenario a few times over the next ten years.

Re: Chris Yarran

Streets ahead in class

"He would be as good as anyone in the 18s group this year in terms of his skills, his touch, his awareness in traffic and just his feel for the game,” WA talent and coaching manager John Haines said.
“If you look at his performance in really big games during the year, given his age and his preparation, they were just outstanding performances.

“There are not many kids of that age who can have the sort of impact he was having in WAFL football off a limited preparation.”
“It took me six or seven weeks to get back on the track and start playing again,” he said. “At the start of the year I was playing through the midfield more than I was later on in the year but my fitness dropped off a bit with the injury and I couldn’t go through the midfield as much as I would have liked.”

Re: Chris Yarran

Yarran is a different beast(to Walters) - much better build to the point you would compare him to a slighly shorter Shaun Burgoyne. Very quick and seriously dangerous player, almost the complete forward that should move into the half forward/midfield rotation after 2-3 preseasons.
Though Yarran is no Schoenmakers.

LOL.

Re: Chris Yarran

Sorry guys, pure DT question, couldn't find a DT thread on your board for these types of questions though.

When is Yarran likely to make his debut?

Noone really knows to be honest.

Some supporters are calling for him to be brought into the seniors for our next game but we are playing Sydney and I would be amazed if we called him up. Having said that, Garlett is likely to be dropped so if we decide to drop like-for-like, Yarran is closest to that role.

We played our first proper VFL match on the weekend and from all reports Yarran was OK without standing out. Does some freakish things but is not particularly consistent and therefore probably not ready to debut just yet.

I won't be touching him for DT until he starts really pushing for senior selection.

Re: Chris Yarran

Like J said, how can we mug punters predict this?

Facts:

  • The coach is a fan
  • The type to relish the step up in class and respond accordingly
  • Has played a couple of impressive cameos for the Ants up forward but is yet to string a couple of good games together

  • Continues to have a few niggling injuries and this struggling for fitness
  • His running is not quite up to AFL level yet

Like J, I wouldn't want to take the punt until he is named one Thurs afternoon.

Re: Chris Yarran

Thanks guys, and again, sorry for clogging your board up with DT rubbish, I myself get a bit annoyed when I see it on our board.

I've had Yarran from the start of the year, just sitting on my bench atm as I have other cash cows who are doing a great job for me at the minute, was just interested to see how he is progressing.

Thanks for your help! :)

Re: Chris Yarran

Get your backside on the park Yarran you lazy ****

;)

Seriously though i hope he continues to show form in the VFL and we can inject him into our team either in the middle or back half of the year. We could really do with someone that can kick 3 goals in a few minutes, someone who can adding another scoring threat.

Put in another good performance on the weekend Chris.

Assuming we had no injuries and everyone was playing well, who do you think he come in for? (i.e. based purely on team balance)

IMO, Carrazzo, Wiggins, and Russ are the most likely, but a drop in form may see Simmo make way.

I have been thinking about Grigg the same way recently........if Hadley comes in for Bentley, who makes way for Grigg? Ahh....depth. Gotta love it.:thumbsu:

Re: Chris Yarran

Exellent, hope he has a good game and shows his potential. If you want someone to give it to Fev this kid has the boot to do it.
Cheers.

Though your posting in this thread means you're obligated to defend Yarran on Bay 13 if he doesn't surpass Ablett in his debut game.

Re: Chris Yarran

Quality, anyone how says this fella doesn't put in effort really needs to get glasses. Disposal by foot today was very good and i'd be very tempted to play him across half back for a while. Isn't afraid to take people on and that is what we could have used, someone to take the game on in the first half.

I don't think he is being utilized properly right now. He is quality over head why not play him from the goal square one out? He doesn't attract a quality defender as yet, he would have the class to out mark most of his opponents, us him to our advantage.

Hopefully the coaching staff are flogging him on the track because when his fitness base increases and he is able to play 85%+ TOG he will be a handful where ever he plays.
