Re: The Brahmin Bull

Ratten has already said that Yaz will play plenty more games and get much more game time in 2010 than he did in 2009 :thumbsu:

Which is fantastic to hear the coach say that. Would be great if Yaz could start off 2010 how he finished off 2009. Very much looking forward to seeing him play alot more in the Navy Blue next year.

Yaz in the Ants prelim was an absolute jizz fest

Re: 13. Chris Yarran @ training 19/11/09

A combined top 10 with this years draft and last years draft and Emma Quayle would still have Yarran in that 10, a certainty too.

Hi Emma, I'm interested in the quality of this years draft compared to 2008. So if you combined your 2008 and 2009 top 25 players, who would be your top 10?

Good question! Without thinking too hard about the order, I'd probably just have Trengove, Scully and Martin in there from this year's group, possibly Rohan and Butcher but probably not. From last year's I'd have Watts, Yarran and Naitanui, maybe Hartlett and probably cheat a tiny and promote Hurley, Hill and Rich!!

Awareness and skills are not the issue and never have been - he's always come across as 'a class above'.

Yaz's major problem last year was his fitness. He simply didn't have the build or the fitness to run out games and would fade badly during games.

Looking at photos, he has trimmed down a hell of a lot and looks a whole lot fitter.

He's also apparently training very well, although that's not the be-all and end-all.

He had a very interrupted start to last season so here's hoping he can get a full preseason under his belt and he'll be a whole lot better for it. And so will we.

He'll start in the senior team in round 1, and I'm pretty confident in saying he'll play the majority of season 2010 in the seniors.

Yaz will always look laconic, however, the couple of times I have seen him train, he has been ultra impressive. Very good when doing the running drills, and he's usually been up the front, or close to it all the times I have seen him. Has come back from the break in magnificent condition. I just hope he can have some impact in the NAB Cup, sp he's in form for round 1.

Whilst it's fun for opposition fans and haters to say "Yarran is a bust" and so on, nobody who knows a damn thing about football is thinking this way. Or shouldn't be.

There's NO doubt over Yarran's talent - he's shown flashes of sublime balance and skill. More than just about any other mid/small in last year's draft, Yarran needed fitness. He's a guy who will take a few pre-seasons to harden up and get fit. But when he does, he's going to add something that our forward line just hasn't had for a long time.

The other "bonus" of Yarran's unspectacular first year is that... well, he didn't give us anything last year. Any and all improvement from Yarran is a boost to our team. And his scope of improvement is massive, according to Quayle, me, and most other footballer judges you care to mention. :)

Should be interesting to see what he can bring this year, but he's still a work in progress. When he's done he'll be a masterpiece!

yes I agree, a small amount of players just have that " look " about them when there near the footy.. And he oozes it.. The look I mean is could do something that no oppostion could stop
