there was a link posted in the trading subforum of bigfooty. only thing not above board is entering into a contract.

Trust me to go off the reaction of that news from the others on the Footy Show. They made out it was not allowed.

However, I note that article suggests that Richmond wanted anti-tampering rules in place to prevent these approaches. Remember Hardwick's reaction to other clubs chasing Rance?

i noticed the comments on richmond in that article too. a little bit hypocritical, but a little bit playing within the rules that are in place.

not sure it's feasible to leave all the communication until the end of the year (cramming it all into a short amount of time, player holidays among other things), but i don't know what a reasonable alternative could be. the player + player managers being all ears for offers doesn't help either. carte blanche on contact between players and other clubs is probably the best of two evils, when it comes to a players' life-altering decision that needs time to be considered.

Well if you believe the media, interest in Yarran is coming in thick and fast from multiple parties, Richmond are the most interested and several club officials met with him. You surely don't do that if you think you are picking up a player from the bargain basement bin.
Didnt Carlton meet with James Aish.

Apparently. Not sure if we are undervaluing him though.
I think you guys on here might be with talk of 2nd rounder, There will be hot competition for him and both adelaide clubs will be falling over themselves to grab him. 1st rounders will be on the table for sure.

In relation to Hardwicks comments about clubs meeting with contracted players, I think it was more in relation to actual offers that were made to Rance's manager of dollars that was mentioned that irked him but yes it shouldnt be allowed till season ends but all clubs pretty much do it.

Lets see.. Aish has only shown any form for 1 year, Yaz for several.
Aish apparently has an issue at his current club, so apparently does Yaz.
Carlton BF posters reckon an early rnd 2 pick for Aish is fair but Richmond BF posters think we are under valuing him whilst at the same time suggesting that a late rnd 2 pick for Yaz is fair.
Umm

Im sure just about every poster will prefer Aish over Yarran today, Kid is jusr 19 and in his 2nd year and in his 1st year was good.

2 very different players with 10+ plus left for Aish where Yarran after 7 years has only shown glimpses

would you trade Yarran for Aish today straight swap

His second year has been no better than Yarrans worst, so on exposed form the answer is no, I would not.

I think it has to be honest, If it hadnt been for kick outs from behinds yarran would have struggled to get into double figures this year & Given the kids only in his 2nd year - James Aish easily for me but hey we are all entitled to opinions

Yarran has had a terrible year due to a loss of interest. He has shown over several years now what a valuable player he is and would be well suited to richmond. He was a #7 pick iirc and well worth it imo, I just hope we don't let him go for peanuts like we have with others over the past couple of seasons ffs.
Maybe a 3 way deal to secure Aish but the jury is out on Aish and although he is young, we haven't seen enough of him so I would want more than just the player in return for Yazzman
