I think it is a non issue.

Murph pulled out of Petrie's way last weekend. Big deal!

Some people might call it lacking hardness but they might be just playing their role. Murphy in this case, Yazzle in others, if they collide and go down, it leaves their opposite number to run off with the ball and kick a goal. Not to mention that he risks long term injury. They also need to back in their defender to bring the ball to ground.

I'm sure there are instructions for them to hold their feet and mop up the loose ball, not fling themselves headlong into an oncoming bus!

Let's say murphy/yazzle do it 4 times in a half. There is no way they will get away that many times unscathed. How does that really help Carlton win in the third/4th qters when they are doun players or hobbled/sore players.

If robinson wants to do it, let him. In life, some people want to ride on the roof of trains...but we all dont do it. We applaud those crazy people but we dont do it ourselves.

If a game is on the line in the last 2 minutes...you'll find the players will mostly do it.

Serious non issue..and to say Yazzle needs to develop this area of his game...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Go into your kitchen, lie on the floor and get a mate to tip your fridge on top of you. That's the sort of mass and collision force we are talking about with these massive, fast-running players today. Particularly if there is a Pie supporter inside stealing last night's leftovers. So ease up on the self-destruction talk - Bradley never really took too many big hits and he turned out ok.
Agree - there's a fine line between courage and stupidity on the footy field.

You don't need to be Einstein, or Newton, to know who'd come off second best in a collision between Cloke at 108kg and Yarran' at 84kg.

hopefully people are watching him on before the game.

Stated the obvious "i wouldn't want to be anywhere else"

Fantastically and hilariously confident (arrogant) in his ability

Look at the difference in confience in the way he talks and plays his footy now to that of his first season.

That's what a great club can do to a kid.

Very impressive young bloke :thumbsu:

Great decision to sub Yaz off yesterday just after half time.

It was obvious we were going to run over the top of Melbourne once the sting went out of the game so the call to give him the red vest an an extended rest is the correct one.

Playing at Subiaco next week will suit him to a tee. Obviously it is his home state so he knows how to play the ground, and I can't help but feel that the wide expanses of the ground will be of great benefit to him.

Only played half the game but still managed to lay 8 tackles. Great effort.

Yazz all smiles as 50th looms
“I would play for nothing and if you asked any player they’d say the same thing,”

“We’ve all got to be employed, but footy’s such an enjoyable game that I’d play it just for fun. I love playing with 21 other blokes each week for the camaraderie because you make such good friendships out of it.”

“But Carlton is such a magnificent club that the more you’re around the more you enjoy it,”

“I was always keen to play AFL footy, that was the life I chose and I’m thankful for the opportunity Carlton has given me.”

Yazz all smiles as 50th looms
“Footy is such a demanding game to play and I just want to enjoy it as much as I can while I have my time in the game,”

“It’s such a fantastic game and I’m enjoying every minute of it, but I am an enjoyable character and I like to have a laugh every now and then.”

Unprofessional...

Thread should be a sticky.

Dont forget the haircuts mate.

There are at least three threads on the boards on Big footy right now talking about how soft Squibbs is - and most of them mention his haircut - without me having to contribute - everyone who follows AFL knows how soft he is, people have even taken to putting up animated gifs of Bryce squibbing it - and the most commonly mentioned thing is his ridiculous nancy hair cuts with his hair full of wax and polish - say what you want mate - but you have to argue with pretty much everyone on every board on every website - most commentators and 80% of EVEN the carlton faithful.

Sooooo - guess that leaves you to be smug all on your own knowing your right and EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG.

AS for the boots - same thing - all anyone can talk about is how these boys play for the cameras EVERY SINGLE WEEK, completely lack any hardness and dress for the nightclub - all I hear now about these blokes is "Where's the Mardi Gras ?".

And its true.

Since I raised the issue of Carlton being soft, and teams belting us because they know we dress for the night club and the mardi gras and not the footy field, it has become probably the most common theme on Big Footy along with the Blues board specifically -

So be as smug as you want - but I'm dead right, have been all along, and since our pathetic performances against GWS, Freo, Saints and no doubt about it Crows this weekend I am entirely vindicated.

These guys need to stop focusing on the replays on the ground, the ridiculous lairizing, the ridiculous self obsession - put away the fancy crap and start realising they are getting belted.

Almost every post has been backing up what I have been saying over the past four weeks - the difference is I saw the writing on the wall straight away and was honest enough to be able to address it - while the rest of you prefer to live in denial pretending everything is super duper.

The expectation around here appears to be that finishing in the top 8 is good enough, year, after year, after year. we are the new Richmond - with Bowden to boot.

Some people need to seriously raise their expectations, take the blinkers off and come to terms with the fact that our boys are soft as butter and play for nothing but themselves and the telly replays - its sickening to watch the difference between the Bombers, Cats, Hawks and Pies - the genuine Footy Players and the Blues who are leading the parade in Rio - nice hair cuts, fancy shoes and "ooooh look, I'm on the telly".

People have to relax a little. We lose a couple of games and it's armageddon. Obviously, we been in poor form since the Collingwood game but we have lost our hard nut midfielder and key defenders and our structure is left wanting. Yarran back will help and the image of hardness won't be such a big issue.

There may be a mental issue with the players at the moment, but its certainly not that big an issue - we have proven we have it in us to be hard. We were hard against Collingwood and we can do it again. When we play like that not many teams have it to match us...

The last few games have been disappointing no doubt. The intensity just hasn't been the same as we've seen before and some players deserve to be in the spotlight for sub-par games. But coming out with definitive soft-as-butter statements and the like is just reactionary twaddle. I'm not saying you have to be perennially happy with the teams performance or that you can't expect more from certain players, but the above is just not constructive at all and is more Richmond than Carlton; the dark days of the 2000's have left a stain on some of our supporters it seems. I can't wait to see a bit of real pride back at our club.
