Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

Great job Chris, you obviously did a lot of research so good on you.

I'd be feeling very good if West Coast could secure Lucas, Duncan and Fyfe with those picks:D

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

#18 Richmond - Jake Carlisle
Riewoldt and Morton seem better suited to being the 2nd and 3rd forwards, Carlisle is an exciting option up forward and could prove to be the target they so desperately need

Very good mate but this really confused me. You say two totaly diffrent things first you say we have some young KPF then you say we need them?

If Butcher is still at pick 3 im alost 100% sure we would take butcher, but once agian a very good efort!

I have no doubt that Richmond will take whoever Melbourne doesn't out of Trengove and Butcher. Therefore, we would get Butcher at 3 and looking who is after Carlisle, I would suggest Bastinac at 18.:thumbsu::thumbsu: Much happier with that scenario.

haha exactly. totally conflicting. i think u may have done that to give freo butcher who u consider the best kpp.

and as azzleberry said, we'd be able to go butcher and bastinac which would be a much better scenario.

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

very well done Chris. I would be a very happy man if we got Carlisle instead of panos though. After watching him in the carnival, he looks the goods and i would be very surprised if he lasted that far.

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

Could not see us overlooking Butcher, but apart from that, not a bad phantom draft.

Yeah, that was a tad confusing.

Basically what I was saying is that although Richmond need a key forward, they already have a couple of young forwards in Riewoldt and Morton. So I think they will be happy enough to wait until the second round and take one of Panos, Black or Griffiths. Which means they can fix their #1 problem, being a lack of quality midfielders, with their first pick.

Good work, Boy.

Tell Elke to make me more Key Lime Pie.

If anybody is getting more pie, it's me...

I'd be feeling very good if West Coast could secure Lucas, Duncan and Fyfe with those picks:D

And I would be very unhappy if West Coast was to get those three, just once I would like them to have a bad draft...

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

wouldnt of thought north would pass up duncan, imo he is the next best mid after scully, trengrove and morabito, but good effort all the same

I'd say our No. 1 problem would be either key forwards or a good rebounding defender (one with good skills), whereas our midfield is by far the strongest area we have, with Deledio, Cotchin, Foley, Tambling, Cousins, Collins, Thomson/Tuck.

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

Interesting to see if Talia slips ala Jackson Trengrove last year with similar injuries.

Panos would be nice.

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

I dont know a whole lot about the draft apart from the highlight vids, but going by your descriptions of the players picked up by North, i'd be very happy with that, and it seems like you know our needs and drafted accordingly.

Good work

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

good read chris25

what do you think of luff ? ive only seen him play twice and thought he was a good defender but howz his decision making? with all the new rules like the rush behind etc do you think he will have enough poise?

after hearing about taz i really hope we can resign drum now, he has really suprised me the last month and i must admit i was very critical of him in the past. obviously he has some issues hopefully he and the club can sought them out

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

As good as Thompson and Grima have been, neither are a #1 defender.

Hmm, they do a pretty good impression of it when they are towelling up their opponents every week.

Maybe swap Ah Chee with Duncan?Thoughts-could be that crumber we are after!

Why would we take Morobito then? If Butcher doesn't go to Melb we'll take him, If Trengove doesn't go to Melb again, we'll take him.

We will just take who ever the Dee's pass on.

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

Dustin martin is a lot better player than you have given him credit for, after scully trengrove and morabito, martin is the next best mid and thus should go to north (i hope).

Yup. I'll let the OP know about this later. (I'm dating his sister ;))

I don't really see Ah Chee as the crumbing forward type. He isn't really in the mould of a Rioli, and I think it's more likely that he will play off a wing rather than as a small forward.

I don't really see a lot of small, crumbing forwards early in the draft. And if West Coast want one that bad, they would be better off looking past the 18 year olds and to the WAFL instead.

Personally, I rate Cunnington as the next best midfielder. His disposal is ever so slightly better than Martin's, and he has the edge in the air too. Plus he is more damaging on the scoreboard. I think he would offer more to a midfield group of Swallow, Ziebell and Anthony than Martin would.

I would have Martin just behind Cunnington, along with Tapscott and Lucas, but when it comes down to it Cunnington just has more potential in my book.

Did you really have to bring that up? No North supporter will take me seriously now, knowing that I'm associated with you....

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

i agree with so many of them mate, i do hours upon hours of draft research every year and u have done a great job. im glad u have cunnington so high up, i agree with u there, he is a ready made footballer, i would love to get ah chee, rohan, christianson. Talia would be great too but just depends who is available at pick 9. (if we still have it and dont trade it)

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

Top stuff mate best phantom yet imo. I would be happy with Freo's picks but I too doubt that Richmond would overlook Butcher. Just wondering how you think Freo's draft would pan out if we got a mid first (Morabito or Trengrove)? Do you reckon we would still go for Jetta or would we go maybe Black/Carlisle/Griffiths etc?

It is interesting to see that a lot of quality mids are slipping into the 2nd and 3rd rounds so getting Butch first would be great imo. Would love freo to take Winmar/Hutchings 3rd/4th rd instead of the saints getting them too.

Re: 2009 Phantom Draft - Version 2

Dont think we would go with a ruckman first up....the fact we took Lowden last year 206/87 kg...tells me we will run with him as the kid on the list...keen to see how he goes...I for 1 still think KPD or PACEY MID...:thumbsu: GOOD WORK CHRIS...

If we got Morabito instead of Butcher, I would be hoping we went for whichever one was left out of Black, Panos and Carlisle with our second pick (in that order). I don't think Griffiths would be a great fit at Fremantle to be honest...

As for the whole Richmond/Morabito selection, I do think Richmond will take Butcher with their pick, especially after the whole Tambling/Franklin thing. But if I were Richmond, I would be taking the risk and going with Morabito. He just has the potential to be the best player taken in this years draft, and would definitely add a new dimension to the Richmond midfield.
