It happens a fair bit though Hdecure, clubs would prefer to take a bit more of a punt on NQR mature ages in the PSD - they only have to offer one-year contracts instead of the standard two-year the player would get in the National Draft.

So a player picked in the PSD only has to be given a 1 year contract. I didn't know that.

What is NQR?

Port said they VERY nearly used their pick in the ND but decided they wanted some time to think it over and analyse a bit more.

With Pfeiffer training with you guys, I guess he is certainly in the mix for your PSD pick or pick 3 in the RD. Justin Clarke to Brisbane at pick 4 in the RD also looking likely.

Luke Blackwell as given up on afl as he has a very high paying job in perth that allows him to play WAFL footy
Its a shame as he is such a better player now than he was when Carlton recruited him.

Agreed...absolute 1st class player now...would make similar impact to Barlow if he returned....just oozes class. Good luck to him though...being a Claremont supporter i hope he plays for another 10 years down there....if he does...he could win 8 Fairest & Bests! (Already won 3)

What is NQR?

Not quite right. Meaning whatever reason the recruiters weren't quite convinced enough to sign the player up for 2 years via the national draft and wait til the Psd.

Far too good a player not to be on an AFL list imo. Oh well great pick up for Box Hill or whichever State League club picks him up !

I know that people who do these mock drafts spend a lot of time and effort on them but I must question the idea that the Eagles would want ANOTHER medium defender ! We already have Brennan, Tunbridge and Wilson who can handle that role on our list. I feel that another TALL (193 cm +) defender would seem to be more of a priority this draft.
