I do have a thing for Norwood players. Bassett is amazing at getting the most out of his players, and it seems to translate across into the AFL.

I would gladly take Luke Brown, Cam Shenton, Mitch Grigg, Darren Pfeiffer, Alex Forster, Mat Suckling, Ben Gazzola, Peter Persinos, Tom Langford and Brady Dawe. Throw in Kieran McGuiness, Dean Terlich, Luke Rander and Nick Dinham, they might not have a team next year. :)

As for the Bulldogs, yeah they could go quite a few ways. Taylor Adams was a bit too good to pass up on though. I would go best available, and then look for that run later on.

It's mostly me on the Essendon board, as I know him and have played with him at school. Thanks Chris, hope he turns out to be a rookie prospect at Essendon.

What about Anastasio, Gotch, Maric? All rookie Draft as well?

Yeah, I like Elliot Yeo. He is pretty underrated on BigFooty, and I'm probably a little guilty of that myself. He impresses me every time I see him play. Good skills, good overhead and just does the odd thing that really makes you take notice. And although he perhaps isn't as strong in the forward half, I do like the Menzel comparison.

Also, I've moved Luke Brown over to the GWS pre-listings. No official word yet, but it's done from everything I'm hearing. That forced a change, as Brown has been my pick to North Melbourne since my very first draft. Ended up giving North Jackson Paine, and Marley Williams was the big mover.

Had to add someone, so I went with Fletcher Roberts. Was considering a few guys like Lachlan Boyd, Haiden Schloithe and Jack Johnstone. Angelo Thomas was another for something a bit different. But went with the big guy.

Unlike the other leagues, the SANFL is still going. Today was the preliminary final between Norwood and Woodville West Torrens. And it was the worst game I have seen Norwood player in a long time - not a good thing, as most of the draft relevant players are from Norwood.

Alex Forster was the best of them, and he is severely underrated. At the moment I have him at #31, but I've wanted to slot him into the first round for some time now. The kid is only 18 but his teammates were feeding him the ball across half back, and they did that because he doesn't make mistakes. Not the fastest player, but very smart and always clean.

Mitch Grigg was good, but was shown up for a lack of pace on a couple of occasions. When he is involved in the play and around the ball, he looks every part the AFL player. But sometimes he is just caught outside, and doesn't get to the play. But his kicking was on show today. Very much a Daniel Rich/Nic Suban.

Luke Brown was relatively quiet, but took mark of the day and looked dangerous when he had the ball. That was about it for the kids.

Brady Dawe (the #2 ruckman) was disappointing. Didn't get a lot of time in the ruck, and lumbered around when at CHF. Cam Shenton didn't have a chance today, the ball never came inside 50 with any purpose. He tried hard, but finished the day across half back. Hard to judge either player on today's game though. The Eagles lined up much better, had a solid structure down back and forced Norwood to kick deep to contests.

Darren Pfeiffer was great in the first quarter. Dominated across half back, he faded away after but was moved around the ground and just didn't get any time or space. Mat Suckling wasn't at his inside best, but his kicking was as good as ever. Alex Georgiou was good across half back, but he wont feature in the draft.

For the Eagles, Jimmy Toumpass wasn't as good as last week but showed promising signs for next year. Matt Goldsworthy is one who will be going to the SA state screening, and he was good around half forward and did his chances no harm.

FWIW Chris, Terry Wallace/Ben Dixon had a mock draft on tv today and Forster went at 10. Sheahan didn't disagree. Sheahan also said Kavanagh would be lucky to go top 10. Grigg went 19.

They had us taking Markworth at 14. Is that too high?
Sounds like a weird mock. Can someone post it in full?

Was that on Future Stars? Shame we don't get that over here in SA. But, that actually looks closer to my own rankings.

I was working on an update last night, got Forster into the top 20. Not as high as 10, but it's good to see him getting some recognition. It might seem a bit early at the moment, but it wont come closer to draft day. His league form for Norwood has been very impressive, and he has every right to challenge for being the #2 SA kid taken behind Wingard.

Just made a couple of quick changes.

As I mentioned yesterday, I had to move Forster up. Been a long time coming, although it seems Future Stars may have stolen my thunder there. The player making way was Josh Waldhuter. I'm probably his biggest fan on BigFooty, but I didn't think top 16 was all that realistic. I more just wanted to give him a bit of hype, so he is now going to Brisbane with a compensation pick.

I also changed Round 5 into a Rookie Draft. Just because the players I had there weren't necessarily the next best, and probably aren't all realistic National Draft prospects.

just a question on clay smith, he seems a real likely type, reminds of me of joel selwood and got in the best on's in nearly all of vic countrys games, what id like to know is why he isnt as highly touted as some of the midfeilders like adams and greene? thank you

A pretty glowing assessment on Marcus Crook. Everything i have read on him says he should be playing AFL, how likely is it that GWS will pick him up?

I would be surprised and disappointed if GWS didn't select Marcus Crook, especially as they could take him with a zone selection. Everything about him suggests he would be the perfect player for a new team - experienced, big body, relatively local, good skills, versatile, possible cult hero status.

I know Sheedy has said his piece on Crook, suggesting he needed to develop his game in a few areas to make the step up to AFL. But every single player in history has had to do that. So it's a fairly pointless thing to say really.

Like I said before, someone will take Crook this year. Maybe somewhere like Sydney would be better for him personally, as he wouldn't get lost in the fold as much. It's just that GWS have first shot at him - and he has already played with them in the NAB Cup.

That'd be right. Right after I change my draft. Still nothing is confirmed, and there have been rumours both ways for Morris. If he does go to Richmond, I don't think other teams will let him drop too far.

And I'll change the order to reflect the GF. Don't expect it would change any picks though.

Like the look of your updated one and you have picked up on a couple of the SA kids I am reasonable wraps for (eg Persinos, Nyskohous and Murdoch). Still one or two that I think have serious claims. Did Luke Rander, Daniel Kulikowski, Sam Tonkes, Matthew Jacquier & Nick Dinham (sorry if I missed them in your order) into calcs for you? I know that would be a lot of SA players but i thought their midfield depth at champs and in Maccas Cup was v good.

Ps Nice to see my boy Tunga getting some love.

Jacquier was in there in the 4th round.

Of the others, I was close to putting Kulikowski in as a late selection. Thought he could have snagged a rookie spot last year, but it wasn't to be. Looks like his kicking has improved a bit this year, and a league debut always helps your chances.

I imagine Dinham and Rander will both feature in the rookie draft. But I thought I should hold back on the Norwood players, otherwise it'd seem like I was just drafting the whole team. Both of them, along with Tom Langford, look to be good tall prospects.

There were a few other SA kids I could have gone with - Matt Appleton, Nick Joyce, Cameron Sutcliffe.

I dont think that Brisbane will take so many midfielders we dont have that bad of a midfield Rockliff Redden Rich Black Beams-Claye Bewick Harwood Green Polec Polkinghorne Raines and Sheldon Maybe one or two but not four why dont we look at Sam frost for a defender in Picks 29 to 34

I'll give you Rockliff, Black, Redden, Rich, Polkinghorne and Polec. :)

I only had Brisbane taking three midfielders - Waldhuter, Markworth and Haynes. And of those only Waldhuter is an inside player. The other two would be good options outside, as well being able to play forward. You can never have too much midfield talent, and I think those three are a bit more talented than some of the players you listed there.

If we get him for a 3rd rounder you were the first one to pick that. Also Forster is looking likely for pick 14. So kudos to you if u get 2 of our picks right.

Can you give me any info on Doug Morris? He's apparently being looked at.

How do you figure that?

I had heard we were into him originally looking at these Phantom Drafts i presumed 2nd rounder, but the fact that he is now rated first rounder (1 would presume its pick 14 we were looking at him for) He fits the profile for kicking skills that we want.

But then DT mentioned it on our board so that probably rules it out :p
