It's a good idea for cash poor families. We all sit and laugh and make fun, but the end of the day, kids can have a happy x'mas.
It's easy to say they should put money into a long term account, but you can access the money when you want and it might not be there come December for the family.
Some people are horrible savers, so if the kids are happy when the delivery comes it's all good.

BTW, I loathe kids. Absolute pests.

This is the sad part about crico; if it was well off people doing it we'd have a laugh at them and move on.

Instead Crisco is raking in money from exploiting those who can least afford to be exploited.

Surely anyone in their right mind would think one of the several tins of chocolates that can be scooped up for half price at Woolies at the moment (Roses, Lindt, Quality Street etc.), a half decent bottle of plonk and like some scented candles or some s**t in a gift bag is a better use of $50?

Nope. If someone stumped up $50 for a box of Haigh's for me, I'd think I'd hit the jackpot. Very much a case of quality over quantity. And it is Christmas . I'll be honest and admit I usually finish up buying my own, especially now we have a store .

It's not the same as knowingly overpaying for supermarket staples (which as you say are often significantly discounted) that arrive stale.
