Perhaps if the government hadn't privatised ETSA we wouldn't be dealing with the power prices we are.

you may be right.

what is certain is popular policy hasn't worked no matter how good it felt.

Exactly. Government funded/assisted industries are lazy and inefficient. If you cannot survive by yourself, you deserve to go under. Just like all the banks and multinationals should of been left to go under in the GFC. This would of allowed new leaner businesses to take up the slack. When governments fund certain industries, the end result is what governments want. Not necessarily what people real need or demand!

Strange, has worked out pretty well in US, Germany and other countries for certain industries. Doing much better than we are.

I like the idea of wind and solar for example but what is the point if it kills industry?

SA already had an issue with unemployment, so we subsidise power only to see more jobs go.

I shake my head at popular policy

Yeah. The US is bankrupt. They bailed out most of their big companies who have since shifted their manufacturing to China. Real unemployment is double their official rate.
Germany is going along fine mostly due to the rest of the Euro is being propped up. As soon as those countries go under, Germany will as well.

Gee you must read different media outlets to me. Economy up, confidence up, manufacturing up, employment substantially up in US.
Germany everything up so much that they need almost 1 Million workers which is why they are taking so many refugees and all this is in addition to propping other countries. Gee they are really in a bad way, wish we were that bad.

You should go back to the point when you think you first read this guff. Proof is in the pudding. There are people running around saying 'the end is nigh' all the time. The fact they're never right should make you stop before agreeing with them.

I guess the anti-union issue is the same reason why I am anti-religion. they are both important organisations but they tend to attract corrupt people who then prey on the weak.
Yeah yeah... unions are the same as religion...

And unions attract corrupt people who prey on the weak...

Speaking of preying on the weak... why did Australia need unions in the first place???
(I don't expect a coherent answer from you)

I would love to have you sit alongside a negotiation with a union and listen to the racketeering, the requests for kick backs and watch the thugs turn up and threaten staff. Perhaps you might change your view on them too.
You'd love to?? So what's stopping you?
If Maggie5 doesn't want to go, I'll gladly take her place. I'll even pay for my own transport and accommodation.

I'm amazed at how this thuggery is a regular occurrence, but at no point have you had a chance to record any of it.
It's almost like you're making it all up!?!

no because it is a given that different hospitals would come in at different prices depending on scope.

but hospitals are built overseas and if the only reason it makes the most expensive list is because it is a hospital, then we should see the list dominated by hospitals. but we don't.
So much bullshit jumps out at me in your smarmy post.

How many hospitals have been built in Australia in the last year?
How many hospitals have been built in that world, in the last year?

Why are you so gung-ho about the FTA, but don't understand how it could be cheaper to build a building in Indonesia, than it is to build it in Australia...

Again... it's all the "corrupt" union's fault...

Be more obvious!
You're 27 years old, and have a father and an uncle who have been very successful, while also telling you tall tales of working life.

I ignored the reference to going with PR as I have sat through union negotiations in my last place of employment and helped put through a workplace agreement for real not like the fanciful idea that PR has.

I attended all three shifts and met with the union rep on all shifts and saw up close and personal union and employer demands.

I can assure you it is nothing like the ideas that PR sprouts, that is why I am sick of reading about it.

He watched Sopranos, and that was all the evidence he needed to know his uncle was telling the truth.

Interesting statement... from someone who brags about playing golf all the time, while living off his wife's wage...
Have you ever thought that I might of taken a backseat so my wife could further her career? What about my three daughters who we don't want put into after school care? It is a choice we made. You want feminism and I am its greatest supporter. Someone has to support my golf. Quality golf clubs don't come cheap! :thumbsu:

They must be nearly $20trillion in debt. What is that? Debt to GDP ratio of over 100%. This is well and truly into bankruptcy territory. Once the US$ losses its reserve status, it is game over!

You can't even work part time... because you didn't want after school care...
You lazy bastard.

Get a ****ing job! Stop telling everyone else how lazy they are. You slack campaigner.

And what the **** is wrong with you??? That's twice now that you've not actually replied to what I'm saying.

You stated that if you can't survive on your own, you shouldn't survive...
You then pointed out your logical falacy re yours kids... and on top of that... the fact that your wife has to pay for your expensive golf clubs...

She has to buy you expensive golf clubs... because you don't want to put your children in after school care.

You lying, jobless, drain on society.

Not what you have said in previous posts. You stay at home and play golf whilst your other half works.
Why the lies?

I never said I didn't work at all. I work 17hrs/wk while my children are at school and also in bed. I also do some bar work whenever there is a function.
My post about our household income said combined!

Could have been the pension plus you partner's salary.
You have stated that you stay at home whilst the other half works, never said you also work followed by;).
So our taxes are paying for you to post on BF.

Your taxes would be very dubious. My wife's taxes pay for you to post here more like it!
