Anyone seen it yet?

I liked it alot. Vin Diesel is the man.

Probably one for the pure si-fi buffs.

Though, like so many movies these days, the plot is all over the shop.

The Riddick character is wicked. Hes good for a couple more movies.

Here's a tip: Sci-fi fans don't like movies/stories with plots all over the shop.

And just being futuristic looking with special effects and that sort of crap doesn't make a movie science fiction.

oh.........ok, so it probably suits people who dont take their movies too seriously. That probably rules you out.

And I would have thought the fact that it involved planetary travel and non-human type characters would make it science fiction.

Sorry mate, shouldn't have been such an arse.

My point was that there is a big difference between science-fiction and space-opera. Real science fiction is quite scientific - it's based on accepted theories, present research, and reasonable estimations of future technology. It's not just space travel and aliens and laser guns and all that sort of stuff - which have no firm basis in reality. Space-opera is more similar to swords & sorcery fantasy than it is to science fiction.
