It still has a certain vibe around it, a phase that goes through high school

by smoking, is it an easier way to feel comfortable to join a group that is already hanging around smoking?

Totally against them as a kid, after seeing my grandma smoke a ton and die from lung cancer.

Got pissed after finishing high school and tried one. Was prone for a while there to smoking a large number of cigarettes while out on the piss. Managed to stop that thankfully. For some reason they just go real well with a beer.

Not really sure how I'd deal with dating a girl who smokes. Very much used to living in a house that smells nice, plus the temptation to have one would be there. My mum would also hate it. Honestly might be a dealbreaker for me.

Through uni too.

I think cigarettes being about the habit more than feeling anything is very true. Basically becomes like a cup of coffee for regular smokers.

Being out at a bar or nightclub, it's actually probably the best way to meet people too. You can hear yourself think in smokers rooms and I've met some interesting people over time. These days I'll just hang with my mate who has a smoke and chat while he finishes his cigarette.

If everyone stopped smoking overnight all levels of government would go broke from loss of tax revenue

Health costs would go down but that would take years to have effect

For the record I do not smoke

Read the book
If you've managed to sorta quit but get on them when grogging then you'll easily take the next step to quitting altogether
20 years I smoked for, tried God knows how many times, patches gum champix hypnosis...nothing worked long time
I read a $15 book, was a grumpy campaigner for two weeks and then never looked back

What book?

I started when I was 13. Champax made me paranoid, did quit for 6 months but took it up again. Bloody cigar. Cold turkey, people start shoving them into my mouth so I can calm the farm so to speak. I find the easiest way not to smoke is to keep active. Not always easy.

Enjoy it, but there's a palpable sense of guilt every time I light up a dart. On nights out I can get through a pack in a couple of hours, but I usually just bum one or two from others during the week.

Definitely suits sitting in a garden with a couple of pints in summer, which is why it's so appealing. Would love to be able to do the same with a mixed joint in summertime.

What book?

I imagine it's this one;

I know a few people that have read it and it worked for them.

Was a chain smoker in year 11 & 12. First year of uni I smoked only (albeit heavily) during the latter stages of each semester. In the last 4 years since, I've only lit up while pissed. Every now and then I crave them big time, but only rollies. No love for tailored cigs anymore, they're simply repulsive; it's as if you can taste the toxicity when you inhale them.

Had more than enough cigarettes to say I gave it a go but honestly they did nothing except leave a bad taste in my mouth... had no other effects.

What exactly is supposed to happen? I know what alcohol does, what a joint does, what other drugs do... but what exactly does a smoke do?

I can definitely feel my head clearing after a ciggie. It's like this 5 second buzz, but other than that, not a heap.

Right, before you've done them and you look at the prospect of them there isn't really any pros.

I can see why you'd do coke or weed but **** darts

i mentioned it earlier in the thread, but smoking is about the act/habit/routine/social aspect of smoking, moreso than the actual cigarette itself

Thing is I'm an impressionable sucker, so many of those smokes I've had, I've had when filming a amateur movie or something for the image.

I mean, who can deny these people?

This post could go on for ever and that's without even touching cigars.
